Youjiang National Museum

Youjiang National Museum is located in the Baise Uprising Memorial Park on the top of houyinglong mountain in Baise City, Guangxi. It was founded in 1985. The Museum covers an area of 22.7 mu, with a construction area of 4457 square meters. The museum adopts the architectural form of Zhuang's classical corridor and courtyard with double eaves. The main and secondary buildings are well arranged, and the height is scattered. It integrates national style and local characteristics. A large number of historical relics of ethnic minorities are collected in the museum. There are eight exhibition halls with an exhibition area of 1507 square meters and more than 400 sets of exhibits.

In December 2001, with the approval of the Party committee and the people's Government of the autonomous region, it was named the patriotic education base of the autonomous region.

Exhibition of history and culture

The main contents of historical and cultural display include the local history of Baise from 800000 years ago to modern times. It reflects the development of Baise civilization since ancient times. The prehistoric and Paleolithic choppers, stone cores, flakes and pointed utensils displayed in the museum reflect the traces of ancestors' life on this land.

Stone hand axe is the first heavy tool to strike at both sides in prehistoric times. It embodies human behavior ability and primitive technical level. It is a symbol of prehistoric culture. According to the joint research and determination of Chinese and American experts, it has a history of 800000 years. This result has pushed the age of stone tools unearthed in Asia forward for hundreds of thousands of years, changing the past "Asian human evolution is far behind Africa and Europe" That's what I said. "Baise Handaxe" has rebuilt Asian civilization, and its research achievements have been rated as one of the top ten news of China's basic scientific research in 2000 by the Ministry of science and technology of China.

The early Homo sapiens who lived in Baise area in those years had already possessed the basic characteristics of modern people. The improvement in the production technology of pottery, stone, net pendant, grinder and stone shovel in the new era marked another step forward in the development of human beings in Baise.

Gouting state is the first slavery state established in Baise during the spring and autumn and Warring States periods. The cultural relics of this period on display in the museum are mainly bronzes. The exquisite pieces of bronze drum, bronze chime bell, Tongcheng and copper coffin show that the Luoyue people who lived in this land at that time had already possessed high copper smelting technology

Basic display of "Baise heritage", "QIANZI Baise" and permanent "Baise Paleolithic Exhibition" reflect four kinds of culture

The first is the stone culture. Baise has a long history. As early as 800000 years ago, ancient humans lived in the Youjiang River Valley. Baise ancient people created the earliest stone research and manufacturing industry in Guangxi. Baise not only has 803000 years old Paleolithic sites, but also has a wide range of Neolithic sites with a large number of ground stone tools. Baise has become an important base for the study of ancient human activities in Southeast Asia.

The second is ceramic culture, which is not only the condensation and crystallization of national psychology and aesthetic psychology, but also one of the quintessence of Chinese culture. Many kiln sites in the Song Dynasty and Ming and Qing dynasties have been found in Baise. The unearthed artifacts are of various shapes and textures, showing the modeling style and decorative art of ceramics from the Song Dynasty to the Ming and Qing Dynasties.

The third is bronze culture, which is an important part of Baise ancient culture. In Baise, a large number of bronze wares of the period of Marquis of gouting were unearthed and unearthed. These bronzes have both the style of Central Plains and local characteristics.

The fourth is ethnic culture. Baise is a minority inhabited area dominated by Zhuang nationality. There are seven ethnic groups in Baise, including Zhuang, Han, Yao, Yi, Miao, Gelao and Hui.

The exhibition of QIANZI Baise is divided into Zhuang hall and multi-ethnic hall. The Zhuang hall introduces the social and cultural features of the Zhuang Nationality from the aspects of folk houses, traditional crafts and costumes. The multi-ethnic hall mainly displays the distinctive national culture from the aspects of costumes, festivals and folk arts.
