Huang Jiguang Memorial

Located at the foot of Kuishan mountain, the Huangjiguang Memorial Hall in the east of Zhongjiang County, Sichuan Province, covers an area of 16000 square meters and consists of a memorial scenic spot, exhibition area and office service area. The museum is a national patriotic education demonstration base and a patriotic education base in Sichuan Province.

Location overview

On October 20, 1987, on the occasion of commemorating the 35th anniversary of martyr Huang Jiguang's heroic sacrifice, a new Huang Jiguang memorial hall, which covers an area of more than 16000 square meters and has the style of folk house style antique garden, was completed.

Huang Jiguang memorial hall is an antique garden building built on the Bank of Yuma river at the foot of East Kui mountain in Zhongjiang County, Sichuan Province. Covering an area of more than 16000 m2, it is composed of three parts: Commemorative scenic area, exhibition area and office service area.

The commemorative scenic spot is located in the middle of the hall, including the foyer, Sino Korean friendship Pavilion, relief, inscription and other commemorative buildings. The foyer is an ancient Chinese archway style building with a large gold plaque engraved with the name of Huang Jiguang Memorial Hall inscribed by Comrade Dong Biwu.

Hero sculpture

Stepping into the gate of the memorial hall, you will be faced with a three-tier platform. Standing on the high-rise platform 15 meters above the ground is a sculpture of Huang Jiguang's heroic posture in the moment when he pours at the mouth of the enemy's machine gun. It carves the heroic posture of the great soldier into an eternal memorial. The statue is set off in the green cliffs and green peaks, symbolizing the heroic spirit of the martyrs, such as the evergreen pines and cypresses. On both sides of the statue are inlaid models of the first-class national flag Medal of North Korea and the memorial medal for resisting US aggression and Aiding North Korea. The broad stone wall behind the statue is engraved with the inscription "Kaige Baidai" by Comrade Guo Moruo, President of the China DPRK Friendship Association. These four powerful words are the crystallization of martyr Huang Jiguang's spirit of internationalism, patriotism and revolutionary heroism. They are also the voice of thousands of people who respect heroes. On the rock wall, 35 meters wide and 9 meters high, there are seven powerful characters inscribed by Comrade Deng Xiaoping: "super hero Huang Jiguang", which complement the statue of the hero.

Theme relief

Under the inscription are five large-scale white marble reliefs. Through the performance of five themes, such as sending his son to join the army, Shangganling asking for war, Shangganling fierce battle, celebrating victory, and remembering heroes, it reproduces the hero Huang Jiguang's process from joining the army to heroic sacrifice, calling on the majority of young people to cherish today's hard won peace and peaceful happy life. The wide and flat Memorial square and the second floor platform are the places where the people pay homage to the heroes and hold commemorative activities. On both sides of the platform are the Sino Korean friendship Pavilion, in which couplets inscribed by Dong Biwu and Guo Moruo are hung respectively.

Exhibition area

The exhibition area is composed of five exhibition rooms. Through more than 500 objects, pictures, group paintings and models, the life, heroic deeds and relics of martyr Huang Jiguang, gifts from North Korea, inscriptions by President Kim Il Sung and inscriptions by Chinese party and government organs and leading comrades are displayed. This paper introduces Huang Jiguang's glorious course of growing up from a poor farmer's son to a super hero, praises his fearless spirit of bearing in mind the overall situation and devoting himself, and shows his high spirit of patriotism, internationalism and revolutionary heroism. Office service area has office, reception room, conference room, information collection room, etc.

Over the past decades, the heroic deeds of martyr Huang Jiguang have inspired the people of all ethnic groups in the country, educated generation after generation of young people, and inspired their patriotic enthusiasm and revolutionary heroism.

Huang Jiguang memorial hall is a provincial cultural relic protection unit for patriotism and internationalism education.
