Zhuang Wei Township

Zhuang Wei township is a township in Ilan County, Taiwan. Zhuang Wei township is located in the east of Lanyang Plain, to the north of the estuary of Lanyang River, with a total area of 38.4769 square kilometers and a population of more than 26000. With the Pacific Ocean in the East and the lower reaches of Lanyang River in the East, the township is flat with sandy soil, good drainage and sufficient sunshine. Therefore, it is dominated by agriculture, with special products of melons, fruits and green onions. The yield of rice is one of the three rice warehouses in Taiwan.

Historical evolution

The old name of Zhuangwei township was "minzhuangwei" and "minzhuangwei fort". In 1802, Wusha led the people to reclaim the Lanyang Plain. Later, it was called "minzhuangwei" to reward the young and strong villagers for their contributions. In 1920, the governor's office of Taiwan set up "Zhuang Wei Zhuang" here, which was under the jurisdiction of Ilan County, Taipei. After the war, Jiezhuang was changed into a township and renamed "Zhuangwei township of Taipei County". It was established in Yilan County in 1950 and renamed "Zhuangwei township of Yilan County", which is still in use today.

Seaside Park

Yongzhen seaside park is located at the back of Yongzhen Temple beside the coastal highway. It is characterized by the seaside scenery. It has a pavilion overlooking Guishan Island, and is also an excellent scenic spot to watch Guishan sunrise.

The plants in the park are coastal plants, and most of them have the practical function of preventing wind and fixing sand. The Yongzhen temple at the entrance has a long history and is full of incense. In the temple, Kaizhang holy king is worshipped. Every year, the memorial day of Kaizhang holy king is held on February 15 of the lunar calendar. There are fire ceremonies, plays and other folk activities, which attract tens of thousands of pilgrims to pay homage.

Yanya Nature Reserve

The Xikou delta of Lanyang is formed by the confluence of three rivers. The section of Lanyang River, from the Lanyang bridge to the Sea outlet, is about 7 km long, bounded by the embankments on both sides of the river. It is a tidal salt marsh and a slight salt marsh. There are sandbanks, intertidal mud marshes, river vegetable areas, rice fields and so on. In 1972, the Bureau of tourism planned a "wild goose and duck reserve" between the Lanyang bridge and Xikou and the embankments on both sides. In 1984, the Executive Yuan declared it a nature reserve. In 1992, the Council of agriculture declared it a nature reserve. IUCN Asia wetland survey also listed it as one of the 12 largest wetlands in Taiwan.

Zhuangwei Township, Ilan County, is a small agricultural village where Lanyang river goes to sea. The Hami melon, which has traveled thousands of miles from Turpan Depression in Xinjiang, has found its second hometown Zhuangwei. It is famous for its delicious Hami melon in the whole province.

Zhuang Wei's name is heroic. Zhuang Wei people like to say that they are "strong around the world". The coastal countryside, which used to be dominated by rice farming, became famous with the introduction of melons and fruits, and the landscape of Zhuangwei changed from green fields to full of melons and vines. Hami melon, cantaloupe, watermelon The distribution area of all kinds of melons and fruits in Zhuangwei is as high as 100 hectares.

Hami melon is bred at the beginning of each year and harvested in May and June. For two consecutive years, the "Hami melon Festival" held in Zhuangwei has become a major event in the local area. In Xinnan village beside Lanyang River, a landmark of douda stands on the top of which is a Hami melon. It is written as "hometown of Hami melon". In a word, it makes the people around strong. Nowadays, Zhuangwei Hami melon has been separated from traditional agriculture and entered the stage of high-tech management. With the continuous development of new varieties, zhuangweigua is becoming more and more prosperous.
