Lotus Temple

Lotus Temple, located in the southwest of Baiyin City, Gansu Province, is located on the Lotus Mountain of Batan village, north of national highway 109. Because it looks like a lotus, it is called Lotus Temple.

Lianhua temple, with 9 permanent monks and more than 1000 registered residents, is the only open Buddhist pure place in Baiyin City, with standardized management of temple affairs, normal Buddhist activities, harmony of monks, harmony of residents and flourishing Buddhism.

Brief introduction to temples

Lianhua temple is being expanded. The plan will be divided into three phases to build an axis building with Mountain Gate, Tianwang hall, Daxiong hall, Guanyin Pavilion, Ganjing tower and Dharma pagoda as the main parts! Later, Buddhist Chanting hall, nursing home, ancestral hall, Wuguan hall, as well as a number of auxiliary halls and living areas will be built in succession! After the completion of the Lotus Temple will become the largest Buddhist temple in Baiyin City! It will become another Buddhist holy land to carry forward the Dharma, purify the soul and nourish the good roots!

historical origin

Lotus Temple was built in Tang Dynasty. According to ancient records, as early as the Tang Dynasty, when general fan Lihua passed yincaochuan (dabatan village, Wangxian Township, Baiyin District) on his way to the west, he was blessed by Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and won the victory. So he decided to build a temple on Lianhua Mountain in dabatan village, yincaochuan, named Lianhua temple. It was one of the most influential monasteries in the western regions at that time, and was deeply respected and protected by believers from all over the world.

For thousands of years, Lianhua temple has suffered many calamities, but it has been destroyed and built many times.

The scale

After the reform and opening up, especially since 1983, with the implementation of the national religious policy, under the care and support of the Baiyin city government and the specific guidance of the religious authorities, the majority of believers have been merciful and generous in donating money. The elders of Zhushan have carried out the restoration and construction of the former site of Lianhua temple. In more than 20 years, four temples, 54 houses and a building area of 1693 square decimeters have been built, The planning area is 14 mu, forming a certain scale of Buddhist buildings.

Prosperous period

In prosperous times, education prospers and talents descend. In May 2003, master Shangfa Xiazhuang passed through Lianhua Buddhist temple on his way to the middle of the road. He stayed in the only Buddhist Chanting Hall of Lianhua Buddhist temple in Baiyin City and led the public to practice Buddhism.

During this period, he lived for more than 20 days, and then went to Xiantong temple in Wutai Mountain to study. In 2004, master Shangfa Xiazhuang came to Lianhua temple to personally participate in and guide the reconstruction of 58 statues of Buddha and Bodhisattva in the main hall under the sincere invitation of all Dharma protectors in Baiyin City.

FA Zhang's fate is like dew. Master Shangfa and master Xiazhuang then took charge of Lianhua temple and rebuilt the ancient temple.

Buddhist significance

At the beginning of 2006, we invited master shangjuexing and master Xiaxing to join us in the revival of Daoism, to continue the life of Buddha, to become a Dharma wheel, and to enlighten people. In order to pray for the Dharma to live for a long time, the master held a grand Dharma meeting in Lianhua Buddhist temple on May 19, 2008 (April 15 of the lunar calendar). Monk Miaojia Lin and other mountain elders came to the temple to jointly preside over the Dharma meeting.
