Beitou Cultural Relics Museum

Beitou Museum of cultural relics is located in Youya Road, Beitou District, Taipei City, and on the mountain of Beitou hot spring district. Its predecessor was the famous "Jiashan Hotel" in Beitou built in 1920. The high-grade hot spring hotel was the club of Japanese military officers during the Japanese occupation period, and became a museum after the restoration of Taiwan in 1945

In the 1980s, Zhang Chunming founded the "Taiwan folk art and cultural relics home" here to collect and preserve Taiwan's early folk cultural relics and aboriginal art, and renamed it Beitou cultural relics museum. In September 1998, Beitou cultural relics museum became a municipal historic site. In 2002, because Beitou cultural relics museum needed renovation, it was temporarily closed and reopened on January 17, 2008 The opening up of the museum makes it a good place for people to visit in Taipei.

Layout of the Museum

The museum can be divided into three parts: one is the Museum of cultural relics, which displays local cultural customs, folk cultural relics and Taiwan primitive art in the permanent area, and another special exhibition area, which will be replaced every two months. The second is the Zen garden, which provides a good place for tea tasting and studying Chinese tea art; the third is the Li house, which has not only a hot spring bath in the basement, but also Mongolian barbecue and Zhejiang cuisine.

Architectural features

During the period of Jiashan Hotel, the main building of Beitou cultural relics museum was a two-story main building and a separate one, Tao ranju. The main building is now the location of Beitou cultural relics museum. The buildings on the south side of Qiandong and Houdong are Japanese style rooms with tatami. On the south side of Houdong, there is a foreign room with carpet on the floor, and the "daguanjian" on the second floor is the former banquet place Each room is divided into a front room and a main room. The front room is only three tatami pieces, and the main room is about six tatami pieces. The exquisite windows and other decorations are very delicate. The well preserved building is a rare Japanese wooden art in Taipei.

The bath in the museum is quite special, which is quite different from the specifications built in the Japanese occupation period. The general bath is embedded and flush with the ground. However, the bath in the museum protrudes from the ground and can sit beside the bath. There is also a Japanese style garden beside taoranju of Beitou cultural relics museum. Japanese designers use the terrain and scenery of Tatun mountain to create natural landscapes, waterfalls, ponds, plants and so on, so that people can feel the simple Japanese style when they come to Beitou cultural relics museum.

Collection exhibition

The collection of Beitou cultural relic museum is very rich, mainly focusing on Taiwan folk cultural relics and aboriginal cultural relics, covering more than 4000 pieces of textiles, bamboo and wood artifacts, ancient books, ceramics, puppets and shadow puppets. The age of cultural relics is from 1900 to 1940, which is a good place to witness Taiwan's early development. The exhibition of Beitou cultural relic museum can be divided into permanent exhibition and theme exhibition, where the permanent exhibition is located It is located on the south side of the first floor of Beitou cultural relics museum. It is a time tunnel for people to enter Beitou cultural relics museum in the form of pictures and texts. The theme exhibition has various plans and exhibitions to let people know more about the customs of early Taiwan life. The rich collection of Beitou cultural relics museum is a tourist attraction for people to visit Beitou.

3. Go down Zhongshan high from Taipei exchange road to Shilin and Beitou. After passing bailing bridge, turn to Chengde road. After passing Datong company, follow Zhongyang South Road and Guangming Road to xinbeitou. Then follow the guide to xinbeitou.
