Haitan ancient city, the first island tourism ancient city in China, was put into trial operation on May 1, 2015. With the purpose of showing Minnan culture and Hakka culture, Haitan ancient city strives to create a large-scale tourism cultural complex with full functions of "eating, living, traveling, shopping and entertainment" for Pingtan. There are not only large restaurants, Fujian and Taiwan snacks, temple fair snacks, but also five star hotels and traditional courtyard houses with special features, and there are also characteristic tourist commodities streets that collect beautiful products from all sides; especially the ancient city's unique entertainment performances, large-scale humanistic theme parks, Mazu temple, Confucious'Temple, Town God's Temple, yamen, BIE, Huguang guild hall and Taiwan guild hall. In terms of residential function, the ancient city not only has the traditional architectural form of quadrangle in the north, yikeyin in the South and liuchengchun, but also has high-quality housing.

However, the ancient city is still under construction. The area that can be visited is the area on the main line, and the area in the alley is still under construction.
