In the 1980s, the agricultural structure was adjusted, and more than 300 mu of apple, peach, jujube and other fruit trees were planted on the slope. In 1991, Dazhai people began to plant trees and forests in Hutou mountain. In 1995, 300 people were sent out and more than 10000 workers were put into operation. They blasted holes in Hutou mountain, filled one pit with a cart of soil, and planted more than 10000 pines and cypresses on dry stone mountain.

In 1996, a forest park was built in Hutou mountain, Dazhai. In the park, there are a number of historical sites, such as Premier Zhou's mountaineering Memorial Pavilion, Guo Moruo's monument, ye Shuai's memorial Pavilion, Chen Yonggui's tomb, writer sun Qian's tomb, Dazhai memorial hall, and Chen Yonggui's bust. Hutou mountain forest park has introduced 15 greening tree species from Beijing, Shijiazhuang, Taiyuan and other places. Hutou mountain has achieved three seasons of flowers and four seasons of evergreen. "In 1999, about 100000 tourists came to Dazhai, and the ticket revenue of Hutou Mountain Forest Park was 560000 yuan.
