Wu Chongxi's old house
Wu Chongxi's old house is located at 56-58 Yantai Road, Heping District. It is a general protection level historic building and is now a residential building.
Wu Chongxi (1841-1921) was born in Wudi, Shandong Province. During the reign of Tongzhi, he served as magistrate of Chenzhou, acting governor of Jiangxi Province, governor of Henan Province, and postmaster. After the Republic of China, he was a consultant of Yuan Shikai's name and collected a lot of gold, stone, calligraphy and paintings.
The building was built in 1912, covering an area of about 1600 square meters, with a construction area of about 1200 square meters. It is a two-story brick and wood structure building with basement, green brick clear water wall and local mixed water. Multi slope tile roof, tiger window. The facade of the building is symmetrical; the two main entrances are stone high steps, supported by columns and protruding from local three floors, which has strong guidance; the roof shows the characteristics of wooden roof truss. The doors and windows are all made of wood, and the door and window covers and eaves are well decorated.
