Located on the Suzhou River, Changhua Road Bridge is a bridge connecting COSCO Liangwan city and the downtown area of Shanghai, China

Changhua Road and bridge was built in the early days of the liberation of Shanghai

It was renamed Changhua Road Bridge in 1957

In September 1974, it was rebuilt into a reinforced concrete pile foundation arch rib suspender bridge

It was demolished and rebuilt in November 2000 and reopened in December 2001

.

As of February 2013, Changhua Road bridge has a total length of 49.0 meters, a deck width of 24.6 meters and a two-way two lane bridge deck

Historical evolution

In the early days of Shanghai's liberation, Shanghai was still very difficult in economy and lacked funds for municipal construction. However, the city leaders saw that the majority of workers to and from work and farmers in the northern suburbs had to take ferries to deliver vegetables to the city, which was not only time-consuming but also unsafe. There were often incidents of overcrowded passengers falling into the water. The Shanghai municipal government built a 7-hole wooden bridge about 4 meters wide and 50 meters long, called Guihua Road Bridge, to solve the urgent problem

In 1957, Guihua Road was renamed Changhua Road and Guihua Road bridge was renamed Changhua Road and bridge because the word "Guihua" was disrespectful to ethnic minorities

In September 1974, Changhua Road bridge was rebuilt into a reinforced concrete pile foundation arch rib suspender bridge

It is 48.98m in length, 13.7m in width, 8.6m in carriageway width and 1.5m in sidewalks on both sides

In November 2000, in order to widen the bridge deck to meet the needs of pedestrians and vehicles, and to meet the needs of the development of residential groups on both sides of the Strait, the old Changhua Road and bridge was demolished

On June 3, 2001, the first steel arch beam of Changhua Road and bridge reconstruction project was hoisted

. In December, xinchanghua road and bridge was completed and opened to traffic

Bridge location

Changhua Road and bridge is located in Shanghai, China, on the Suzhou River. It is about 550 meters away from Jiangning Road and Bridge on the upstream of the river in the West and 650 meters away from Changshou Road and Bridge on the downstream of the river in the East. The bridge runs north-south, starting from the intersection of Zhongtan Road, lvzhouwan road in Putuo District in the north and ending at the intersection of Changhua Road and Yichang road in Putuo District in the south

Changhua Road Bridge is a double arch rib reinforced concrete half through suspender bridge. The bridge deck is connected by arch rib and suspender, and the long-span bridge is divided into several small span elastic supporting continuous beams. The design of Changhua Road and bridge adopts arch beam separation structure

New materials with high corrosion resistance are adopted

. The arch rib of Changhua Road Bridge is Mn steel concrete-filled steel tube structure, the arch axis is a quadratic parabola, C40 micro expansive concrete is poured into the pipe, and the longitudinal and transverse beams are of steel structure

The upper end is the fixed end and the lower end is the tension end. Dm7-37 series upsetting anchorage is used at both ends of the sling

Design parameters

Changhua Road Bridge is 49.0 meters long and 24.6 meters wide, with the design load level of cheng-b. Changhua Road and bridge is equipped with 16.0 m wide motorway, two 0.25 m wide transition zones, two 2.75 m wide sidewalks and two 0.3 m wide guardrails. The diameter of the arch rib of Changhua Road Bridge is 1.0 m, the wall thickness is 20 mm, the main arch span is 46.0 m, and the rise height of the arch rib is 11.5 m, of which the part above the bridge deck is about 5.8 M. each arch rib is connected with the beam by 8 flexible slings. The slings are 55 high-strength finished "extruded protective layer twisted cables" with a diameter of 7 mm, in which the height of No. 2 and No. 7 cables are 2.313 m, the height of No. 3 and No. 6 cables are 3.636 m, and the height of No. 4 cable is 3.636 M The height of he No.5 cable is 4.297m, the distance between slings is 4.0m, and the standard tensile strength is 1670 MPa

Traffic matters

The weight of Changhua Road and bridge is limited to 20 tons, and trucks are not allowed to pass from 20 o'clock every day to 7 o'clock the next day.

Construction achievements

Technical problems

The upper end of the sling of Changhua Road bridge has been cracked. Although it is in a safe state, the sling of the bridge still needs to be tested regularly to collect and compare the cable force changes, so as to provide the basis for maintenance. The cable force detection needs to use the frequency method to measure the multi-level natural frequency of the sling, and then calculate the current cable force of the sling based on it, so it is more difficult to complete a detection and analysis
