Henan Road and Bridge

Henan Road and bridge is also called three ferry bridge. In 1843, a ferry was set up here, known as "three ferry". In 1885, a 62 meter long hump type six hole wooden bridge - "three ferry bridge" was built here. In 1925, it was rebuilt into the current reinforced concrete balanced wing type suspension bridge, 64.5 meters long, 18 meters wide, with three holes and a load of 15 tons. Because there is Tianhou palace under the bridge, it is also called "Tianhou palace bridge".

Henan Road and bridge is located on Suzhou River in Shanghai, China. To the north of the bridge is Henan North Road in Hongkou District, and to the south of the bridge is Henan middle road in Huangpu District. The bridge is 111.5 meters long and 29 meters wide. It is a five hole arch continuous beam bridge. Henan Road and bridge across the Suzhou River was built in 1875. Originally, it was only a wooden bridge. It was only in the 1920s that it was rebuilt from the Ministry of industry into a concrete cantilever suspension bridge.

Henan Road and bridge used to be a ferry set up in 1843, which was called "three ferry". In 1875, the first year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, a wooden bridge was built by the Ministry of industry, which was called the three ferry bridge. In 1883, the original wooden bridge was demolished and a new bridge was built. The new bridge is still a wooden structure. Because a new Tianhou palace was built in the north of Qiaobei in the late Qing Dynasty, it is also known as "Tianhou palace bridge". In 1927, the original wooden bridge was demolished and rebuilt into a three hole concrete cantilever suspension bridge with a length of 64.46 meters and a width of 18.2 meters, which was named Henan road bridge.

reconstruction

In June 2006, the old Henan Road and bridge began to be demolished and rebuilt, and the new Henan Road and bridge was completed and opened to traffic on January 19, 2009. The bridge was widened from the original four lanes to six lanes.

On December 28, 2009, cracks were found on the surface of pier columns of Henan Road and bridge, which was used for less than one year. Behind the cracked decorative board of bridge lamp post, a large number of garbage and sundries such as woven bags and cement blocks are exposed, which has aroused widespread concern of the society. In the end, Shanghai Construction Engineering Group, the general contractor of the project, only gives warning and demerit recording punishment to the relevant responsible person, and deducts a fine of 10000-20000 yuan.
