The folk custom museum is located in the Luze guild hall on the east side of dongguanxin street in Luoyang. It mainly focuses on the reproduction of the folk customs in western Henan. It was officially opened in 1988. It is divided into five exhibition halls: faith custom, marriage custom, longevity custom, embroidery and folk art. In the hall of belief and custom, there are 60 gods which are popular in folk belief. There is also a gold silk cotton Wooden Pagoda in the Qing Dynasty, about 8 meters high, which is an octagonal pavilion style pagoda. The wedding hall shows the prosperous wedding scene of a middle-class family in the late Qing Dynasty, showing the different moods of the bridegroom, bride, the old man, urchin and so on. In the hall of longevity custom, the hall of middle-class families at the end of feudal society was restored and displayed. There are pictures of "Eight Immortals crossing the sea", "Magu offering birthday", birthday tent, birthday screen, etc. it reproduces the scene of congratulating the old people at that time and reflects the virtue of respecting the elders in ancient China. The embroidery hall displays exquisite Luoyang folk embroidery products such as cloud shoulder, embroidered skirt, embroidered shoes, Xiahe, waist bag, sachet and toys, which are full of local characteristics. In the folk art hall, there are new year pictures, engravings, baked flowers, hanging screens, Ru porcelain and Tang Tri Color. There are a large number of wood carvings, root carvings, bamboo carvings, rich and colorful paper-cut works, and shadow puppet plays that are on the verge of being lost. Luoyang folk custom museum is located in the north of Jiudu East Road, Luoyang City, Henan Province. It is built on the basis of the "Luze guild hall" ancient buildings. Now it is a provincial cultural relic protection unit and one of the important tourist attractions in Luoyang.

Development history

Luze guild hall was built in the ninth year of Qianlong reign of Qing Dynasty (1744 AD). It was built by merchants from Lu'an prefecture (now Changzhi City) and Zezhou prefecture (now Jincheng City) in Shanxi Province. It is a place for local merchants to transmit information and collect materials. It is also a product of Shanxi Merchants' culture. Covering an area of 15750 square meters, the guild hall still has the front hall (Theater), East and West bell and drum towers, middle hall, back hall and East and West Corridor rooms. The architectural decoration is very exquisite, with carved beams and painted buildings, cornices and corners. It is a typical official building of the Qing Dynasty, and also one of the most complete ancient buildings in the original area.

After renovation, Luze guild hall was turned into a folk custom museum, which was officially opened in 1988. It has become a special museum for promoting Heluo culture with strong local characteristics and displaying folk customs. The museum has collections reflecting the western Henan, including Jiyuan and Mengxian to the north of the Yellow River. Materials related to folk customs from Lingbao and Lushi in the West and Linru in the south. There are basic exhibitions such as the hall of faith and custom, the hall of longevity and custom, the hall of marriage and custom, the hall of embroidery, the hall of plaque and the hall of folk arts and crafts, as well as performances such as shadow play, marriage and custom, and folk costumes. In addition, the large-scale Luoyang folk culture Temple Fair held during the festival not only enriches the cultural life of urban and rural people in Heluo area, but also attracts a large number of Chinese and foreign tourists. It is also an excellent tourism resource to be developed.
