It is about 45 km away from the county. The town has 8 administrative villages (communities), 27691 permanent residents (in 2017), 33760 mu of cultivated land and 50000 mu of breeding water.

Zaoxiang town is located in the northeast of Fengyang County, about 45 kilometers away from Fengyang County. Huaihe River in the north, Huayuan Lake in the south, huangwan Township in the West and Xiaoxi town in Wuhe County in the East, with a total area of 73.07 square kilometers. The town government is located in Zaoxiang village.
The terrain is flat, slightly higher in the north and lower in the south. The soil quality is mainly sandy land and black land. Fengwu road passes through Laoju, Guanyintang, Zhangwang, Zaoxiang, CHEYANG, huangzui and other villages, with a length of about 16 km. Huaihe 26 Huali golden waterway passes along Zaoxiang. There are three ferries, Zaoxiang, Juwan and huangzui. The ferry goes directly to Xinji and toupu towns in Wuhe County, carrying nearly 1000 passengers a day.
There are 13.2 km cement pavement, 180 Li sand and stone road, and more than 50 bridges, with an accumulated investment of nearly 10 million yuan. Zaoxiang town is located in the flood storage area of Huayuan lake, with three flood control evacuation routes.
Zaoxiang street is composed of Dongxi street and Nanbei street with cement pavement. The total length of the street is about 1.2 km and the width is 6 m. The streets are lined with shops. In 1995, the program-controlled telephone was opened. In 2006, the installed capacity of the program-controlled computer room was 5000, and more than 3000 have been opened. There are two communication base stations, one for China Mobile and one for China Unicom. The Internet has been opened. In 2009, the tree planting area of the whole town reached 2200 mu, with more than 110000 trees of various types. There are two junior middle schools in the town, namely Zaoxiang middle school and Huayuanhu middle school. Zaoxiang middle school is located in Zaoxiang community, Huayuanhu middle school is located in huangzui village. There are 11 primary schools with 2403 pupils and 978 junior high school students. The primary school has 3 pre-school classes, 130 children in school, 3 kindergartens, 144 children in kindergartens and 83 primary school teachers, including 19 with college degree and 46 with secondary school degree. There are 48 junior middle school teachers, including 23 with bachelor's degree and 25 with junior college degree.
Zaoxiang township health center covers an area of 2500 square meters, with 7 employees and 10 beds. There are inspection, radiation, nursing, internal medicine and prevention and protection departments. In 2006, there were 14 village individual clinics, 16 individual doctors, 27560 agricultural population in our town, 24282 farmers who voluntarily participated in the cooperative medical insurance, and 677460 yuan of insurance fund was paid. The rate of participation in the cooperative medical insurance reached more than 90%, which effectively solved the problem of medical treatment for the broad masses of the people.
