Toucheng old street
Toucheng old street is located in Heping Street, Toucheng Town, Yilan County, which was called "Touwei Street" in ancient times. It is the earliest town in Lanyang Plain. As Toucheng town is the earliest town in Lanyang Plain, it is one of the most important tourist attractions to visit. The northern section of the old street is called "the site of ShiSanHang and the house of Lujia". ShiSanHang is the general name of the 13 businesses and warehouses of Lujia. Kaicheng temple and Qingyuan Palace are the main cultural sites.
Historical evolution
Toucheng town is located in the northernmost part of the Lanyang Plain, and it is also the earliest town in the Lanyang Plain. According to the literature, the administrative management was carried out by the settlement units such as Jiewei and Weiwei formed by the reclamation of Wusha at that time. In 1823, LV Zhiheng ordered that the Office of garmalan be divided into seven fortresses. Toucheng area was the first fortress "Touwei fortress". In 1920, the original Touwei fortress was built Weibao is redescribed as "touweizhuang". Because it is close to wushigang, the only commercial port in Lanyang area, it used to be very active. Toucheng is the earliest developed Town, occupying the only commercial port near Lanyang area - Wushi port. It has frequent commercial and trade exchanges with the mainland and Taipei. Today, Heping Street near Toucheng station, the busiest street at that time, is a witness of the rise and fall of Toucheng.
Architectural landscape
The northern section of Toucheng old street is known as "ShiSanHang site and Lujia house". ShiSanHang is the general name of Lujia's 13 business houses and warehouses. After years of wind and frost, although the business houses are decadent, the long stone slabs and Tangshan bricks that were carried back to the bottom of the ship between Wushi and Fujian in those years are still stacked at the head of the wall or under the residual eaves. The simple Fujian style of the Qing Dynasty covers a very wide area, combined with the Japanese style In front of Lujia's house, there is a large pond, which is the site of Wushi port's replacement of Touwei port after silting up. Cultural relics
Kaicheng Temple
Kaicheng Temple used to be the location of Toucheng, commonly known as Fozu temple. The site of the temple used to be near the railway bridge of fufu river. In 1864, the temple was destroyed by serious floods, so it was moved to the present site. After years of devastation, Kaicheng Temple purchased about 260 square meters of land in 1988, making Kaicheng temple a grand temple with an area of about 660 square meters. It was completed and held in 1994 The second floor of the hall is dedicated to Fengcheng God, the third floor to Buddha, and the left and right sides are dedicated to Wu Sha and Yang Tingli respectively. The top floor is dedicated to Guanyin Bodhisattva. The plaques in Kaicheng temple, such as "Ciyun Guangbei", "Yuanguang puhu" and so on, have been handed down from the Qing Dynasty to the present, and are of great historical value.
Qingyuan Palace
The first ancient temple in Kailan. Qingyuan palace was built in the first year of Jiaqing. It was the first temple built by large-scale immigrants when they moved to Yilan. It worships Mazu who protected the immigrants. If Qingyuan palace is taken as the boundary, the south section of the old street is where the small businesses were. Therefore, the houses are relatively dense. Although they are not as wide as the north section, they have the unique charm of the old street. The rows of red brick shops have round arches in front of the houses, and the old business names are still carved on the daughter's wall.
Traffic information
1. From Taipei North Station or Keelung cultural center to Ilan, Luodong and Suao
, or take Yixing and Taiqi passenger trains from Yilan City to Toucheng, and get off at Toucheng station.
