" In legend, the emperor of innocence and the Taoist Lord Laojun are one person. That is to say, as early as more than 1000 years ago, Emperor Xuanyuan's success in Emei Mountain was regarded as the origin of Taoism and included in the official history. So when Taizong of Song Dynasty presented the couplet to Mount Emei, the first couplet said: the place where the innocent emperor talked about Tao.

It is said that Zhang Ling, the actual founder of Taoism, came to Mount Emei to collect anecdotes about immortals and compiled three volumes of "the miraculous stories of Mount Emei". Therefore, in the surrounding area of Mt. Emei, Zhang Ling has six governance systems, namely, hougengzhi, beipingye, benzhuzhi, pinggaizhi, pinggangzhi and zhuboshanzhi. Among them, benzhuzhi has "Longxue tunnel to Mt. Emei in the north, pines on the top, and the place where the ancient guozisheng got the right way" (volume 28 of seven signatures of Yunji). In 198, Zhang Lu, the grandson of Zhang Ling, added "eight grades of travel governance", the first of which was "Emei governance". If the 24 Zhi and related places are called the birthplaces of early Taoism, then Mount Emei is one of these birthplaces.

Later, Taoists set up 36 caves in the whole country, and Mt. Emei was listed as the seventh cave, named "Xuling cave". According to Sima Chengzhen's heaven, earth, palace and mansion in Volume 27 of Zhang Junfang's Yunji Qiqian, it is said that "(Mount Emei) is 300 Li back in Zhou Dynasty, and it is named Xuling cave. In Emei County, Jiazhou, a real man named Tang Xianzhi came to see it. " Du Guangting in the late Tang Dynasty also listed Mt. Emei as one of the "thirty-six small caves" of Taoism, which is called "Lingling Taimiao cave". According to Shuo Ying, it is quoted from Dong Tian Fu Di Ji that "thirty six small holes are the origin of Yan Shan Bai Yu Jing.". The seventh cave, Mount Emei, is 300 Li back in the Zhou Dynasty. It is called "the wonderful heaven of Lingling mausoleum" and is located in Jiazhou, Sichuan Province. The "thousand people cave" in Chunyang hall is the site of the seventh cave. Besides, on the hillside outside hongchunping temple, there is still a wooden square with the four characters "the first step in the cave", which means that when mortals enter the mountain, they begin to enter the seventh cave. In Taoism, Mount Emei is also called "the mountain of the emperor", "the people of Xihuang mountain", "the seventh cave" and "the spiritual cave".
