Dayao Cultural Relics Museum

On the south slope of Dayao village, baoheshao Township, Hohhot suburb, it is 33 kilometers northeast of Hohhot. It is 1420 meters above sea level and covers an area of about 2 square kilometers. It is an early Paleolithic stone tool made by archaeologists and cultural relics team. It is said that it has been 50000 to 600000 years ago, which is equivalent to the age of Chinese ape man in Zhoukoudian, Beijing. Dayao cultural site was discovered in October 1973. At that time, archaeologists found 387 pieces of stone cores, flakes and axes, which attracted the attention of many experts and scholars at home and abroad. Many foreign archaeologists have also come to visit. After further excavation and scientific research from 1976 to 1984, and identification by the famous Chinese archaeologists Jia Lanpo, Pei Wenzhong and LV zuner, it is definitely a relic of the early Paleolithic age. It is a stone tool manufacturing site. Research by several professors has proved that this site is an important cultural site of the Paleolithic Age which is rare in foreign countries and has important scientific value.
