Xishan Grottoes

Longmen Grottoes is bounded by Yihe River. It is divided into two Grottoes: Xishan and Dongshan. The Xishan grottoes were excavated in the Northern Dynasties and Sui and Tang Dynasties. It is the most complete and the most essential part of Longmen Grottoes.

Xishan Grottoes include Qianxi temple, Binyang three caves, Wanfo cave, Lianhua cave, Fengxian Temple, Guyang cave, Yaofang cave and other famous caves. Among them, the most famous are the Lushena Buddha in Fengxian Temple and the 19 of the "Longmen 20 products" in Guyang cave.

Lushena Buddha is created according to the image of Wu Zetian. It is more than 17 meters high. It is flanked by two disciples, JIAYE and Ananda. There are also nine statues of the Buddha, which are reserved and dignified, the king of heaven, and the aggressive warrior. There are 15000 small Buddhas on the north and south sides of the Wanfo cave, and more than 150 kinds of prescriptions are carved on both sides of the prescription cave, which is the earliest existing stone prescription in China.

The world's most famous "thousand hands and thousand eyes" Avalokitesvara, with 1280 hands and eyes, is the only "thousand hands and thousand eyes" Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva in the cave, which is 6 meters high and 13 meters wide, with 1280 hands and eyes. When viewed from the front, the fingers are slender and long, with a variety of shapes, just like a peacock, which is very spectacular.

Reclining Buddha

The largest reclining Buddha in the cave in the world is the largest reclining Buddha in the cave. Using the natural rocks in the cave, he created the largest "Nirvana statue" of Sakyamuni, which is 43 meters long in the cave of the world. His face is full and round, his ears are big, and he lies on his side, facing the Western Paradise.

It was before master Jianzhen's sixth eastward voyage that he came here to find the reclining Buddha and meditated in the cave for a year.

Baidi relief

"Baidi relief" is the longest corridor in the world. "Baidi relief" is a two meter high and 200 meter long relief of Baidi. It is carved with the historical background of the relevant characters to record the merits and demerits of the emperors of all dynasties. The plot is vivid, full of wit and ingenuity, which makes the still painting extremely dynamic and condenses the history of the Chinese millennium.

"Five hundred Arhats hall": it is the only "five hundred Arhats hall" in South China, which worships five hundred Arhats of different shapes and names.
