Shengxing station

Shengxing station is the highest point of the railway in Western Taiwan. There is a monument marking an altitude of 402.326 meters inside the station.

The station is located in Sanyi Township, Miaoli County. It was called "bogongkeng" in the Qing Dynasty. Because of the camphor trees growing nearby, there were 16 camphor distillers, so it was later renamed "shiliufen".

Historical evolution

Shengxing station was built in 1916, and it has been 90 years. The whole building is made of wood, and each beam and column does not use nails. The appearance of Shengxing station is full of strong flavor of the Japanese occupation era. The special thing is that the building of Shengxing station does not use a nail, but it can stand still after nearly 100 years. Shengxing station is only a small station, and does not stop at the Juguang and Ziqiang However, after the opening of the double track railway on the Shan line, Shengxing station and the old railways and tunnels along the line have also entered the history, which is very sad.

Sanyi Fengyuan section of Jiushan railway is one of the most arduous sections of the railway. In addition to the two stations mentioned above, there are three bridges and seven tunnels along the railway, which meander through the valley, sometimes into the cave, and sometimes fly across the air. It is the most primitive and emotional section with rich natural landscape.

Kaitian tunnel was built in 1905, with a total length of 726 meters. Due to the earthquake in the middle of Taichung on April 21, 1935, it was damaged, but it was not serious. The original brick structure was still maintained. On the north entrance of Kaitian tunnel near Shengxing station, you can still see the "Kaitian" by shinhei goto The handwriting, and the abandoned barracks on the slope are the ruins of the troops stationed at the tunnel entrance during the martial law period. They are of great historical significance, and they are quite direct for the people to experience the splendor of the historical track in the Kaitian tunnel.

Station status

At 9:10 p.m. on September 23, 1998, the last southbound train passed through the old mountain line. The original mountain line railway retreated because of its huge slope and the creation of a new line. However, the two old railway stations, Shengxing and Tai'an, which are beautiful and ancient, have recently become tourist attractions for tourists. Along the old mountain line, where there are no trains, people can take a poetic railway walk .

June 5, 2010: Jiushan line is back on the road, only a few trains have been driven, and the CK124 steam train has been running for 12 years. At the same time, it celebrates the 123rd anniversary of the railway Festival on June 9 and the rot warm-up of Jiushan line, so as to drive the new trend of railway tourism, and launch the "CK124 Jiushan line style half day tour" nostalgic cruise train.
