Xilu Garden

Xilu, also known as Xitian, is located in liuqili outside the west gate of Chengxiang Town, Taicang City. It is an idyllic villa built by the famous painter Wang Shimin at the end of Ming Dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynasty. It is a masterpiece of Zhang Nanyuan, a master gardener of Ming Dynasty. The master and many painters gathered here to write poems and paint. In his later years, he was called old man nishita. According to the records of Xilu, Xilu is the villa of fengchangxun, the king of Taicang. Outside the west gate, people and fields are staggered; the bean fence reflects the view; inside, there are nongqingtang, daoxiangan, xiawaige, jinjinghu Xitian, etc. In 2002, Taicang municipal government implemented the project of creating a national garden city, and proposed the requirements of combining the creation with culture, fully excavating the cultural heritage of Taicang ancient city, constructing a number of scenic spots displaying the rich accumulation of Taicang history and culture, and reconstructing Xilu, that is, reproducing the style and features of the elegant gardens in the former site of Xilu. The park, with an investment of 40 million yuan and an area of 450 mu, took more than two years to build through the planning and construction department. Xilu was completed in November 2004. With its brand-new image, Xilu has become a new highlight of the west gate of Taicang. Surrounded by pavilions and bamboo corridors, the park is an open ecological park integrating leisure, ecology, landscape and production.
