Jiaxian square

Jiaxian square

"Jiaxian square", with brick and wood structure, Dou Gong decoration, cornice and berm angle, is 8 meters high, 11 meters wide and 1.4 meters thick. It complements the nearby writing tower, showing relaxation and simplicity. There are couplets on the East and west sides of the square, which are "Yanling Shize, let the country wind" and "spring and autumn struggle regardless of flesh and blood, which is like Jizi always let the country wind". It can be seen from these couplets that they describe the fourth son of the king of Wu in the spring and Autumn period, Jizha.

Jizha was noble and virtuous. He regarded fame and wealth as dirt and repeatedly abdicated the throne. In the first year of wuyuji (547 BC), Jizha was granted the title of Jizi in Yanling, and the 2500 year history of Changzhou began. In memory of the founder of the ancient city of Changzhou, three Jizi temples were built. In 688, di Renjie, the governor of the south of the Yangtze River, once played the role of emperor in Wu Chu Duoyin temple. More than 1700 temples were destroyed in the whole country. However, dujizi temple was not abandoned, and he also presented "Jiaxian" as a gift. The name of Jiaxian square came from this. It was destroyed by the war in 1352 and rebuilt by the Changzhou garden Bureau in 1993.

In the spring and Autumn period, when the nobles of the vassal states fought for power and profit, and the father, son and brother killed each other, Ji Zha gave up the throne again and again, which naturally became a model of high integrity and fame in history. He is the first famous person in the history of Changzhou.
