Weifang World Kite Museum of Weifang is located at No.66, Zhengzheng street, Kuiwen District, Weifang City, Shandong Province. It was officially completed and opened to the public on April 1, 1989. It was managed by Weifang Tourism Bureau in November 2003. It is the first kite art museum in China.

Weifang World Kite Museum covers an area of 13000 square meters, with a total construction area of 8100 square meters. There are 12 exhibition halls and more than 1300 kite exhibits in the museum. It shows all kinds of kites at home and abroad from the "Luban kite" in the 5th century B.C. to the present, and comprehensively shows the historical culture, modern culture, international culture and extended culture of kites.

Weifang World Kite Museum is a national AAA scenic spot.

In January 2020, Weifang World Kite Museum was selected as the "six good scenic spots in Shandong Province"

Historical evolution

On July 1, 1987, Weifang World Kite Museum officially started construction.

On April 1, 1989, Weifang Kite Museum was officially completed and opened to the public.

In 2002, Weifang World Kite Museum invested 5 million yuan to build a new ring screen film.

In November 2003, Weifang World Kite Museum was under the management of Weifang Tourism Bureau.

In April 2011, Weifang Municipal government invested in the renovation and upgrading of Weifang World Kite Museum.

Weifang World Kite Museum consists of seven exhibition halls and one projection hall, namely "kite history and culture exhibition", "Weifang kite boutique Exhibition" and "World Kite boutique Exhibition", with a total construction area of 8100 square meters. The first, second, third and fourth exhibition halls and multi-function hall are on the first floor, while the fifth and sixth exhibition halls and projection hall are on the second floor.

Multifunction Room

The multi-function hall of Weifang World Kite Museum was built in 2011. The hall is divided into multi-media exhibition area, with giant screen projection (introducing the historical origin, evolution and development of kites and Weifang International Kite fair in detail), holographic projection (using virtual imaging projection technology and 10 long imaging area to truly reproduce the lively scenes in the market of old Weixian county), touch computer games, etc.

Folk arts and crafts Experience Hall

Folk craft Experience Hall is an exhibition hall where Weifang International Kite Museum employs professional artists to demonstrate Weifang local folk arts and crafts (kites, New Year pictures, paper cutting, etc.) on the spot, and is equipped with indoor windless kite flying performance. Visitors can enjoy the artistic charm in this hall, and complete their favorite kite works by hand under the guidance of artists.

Architectural features

Weifang World Kite Museum is built in the shape of Weifang dragon head centipede kite. The roof is a complete composite ceramic dragon. The roof is paved with Malachite blue glazed tiles, which looks like a dragon flying in the sky.
