It is one of the "five ancient temples" in the south of Lushan Mountain in Jiangxi Province, located in the core area of "World Cultural Heritage - Lushan cultural landscape". In early October 2016, the media revealed that the local government had incorporated Haihui temple into the overall planning of Lushan scenic area, and Haihui temple was about to be demolished.

Historical evolution

Lushan Haihui temple is one of the "five ancient temples" in the south of Lushan Mountain in Jiangxi Province. It is located in the core area of "World Cultural Heritage - Lushan cultural landscape". Its historical origin can be traced back to the era of Empress Wu Zetian (AD 695).

Kang Youwei inscribed the plaque of "true face" in Haihui temple in the reform movement of 1898 in 889; Liu Shaoqi, who led the Chinese workers' movement, recuperated in Haihui temple in 1927; Chiang Kai Shek set up Lushan military training regiment in Haihui temple in 1933, and later built a rehabilitation hospital; Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai's people's education Communist Labor University, and Haihui normal school was set up in the original site after the reform and opening up.

There are some historical sites in the temple, such as the old buildings of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, such as the reception hall of Zen house, Xugong Zen hall, Zhenmian Liaofang, etc.
