Sand Island

Sand island is located 1.5km north of oluanbi. The beach is about 220m long. It is named after the fine sand piled up like an island. It is mainly formed by shells, coral debris and foraminifera deposited over a long period of time. Because there is no stream carrying sand or impurities nearby, the content of shell sand is as high as 97%, ranking the top of all beaches in Kenting. There is beautiful shell sand here. It is a holy land for taking photos and is worth watching.

At present, Shadao Ecological Reserve has been established. It is located about 39 kilometers away from pinge highway in Hengchun Town, Pingtung County. It is the only shell beach in Taiwan. In the early stage, sand on the beach was piled up like an island, so it was called Shadao ecological reserve. The whole Shadao ecological reserve covers an area of about 3 hectares, 290 meters long and 100 meters wide. It is northwest southeast and is the smallest Ecological Reserve in Kenting National Park, It is a very precious landscape resource in Taiwan.
