On October 9, 1957, Chairman Mao Zedong gave personal instructions to the exemplary deeds of fighting heaven and earth in lijiazhai village of Junan County, praising that "Yugong moved mountains and transformed China, lijiazhai village is a good example.". From 1957 to 1965, more than 500000 people from all over the country visited and studied lijiazhai.

History of building the Museum

To commemorate this glorious history, lijiazhai exhibition hall was built and repaired many times. In 2005, the lijiazhai pavilion was completely repaired. The restored exhibition hall is a three storey structure, with a total area of more than 3000 square meters and an exhibition area of 1800 square meters. The exhibition contents (more than 600 pictures and more than 30 objects) are arranged in chronological order. The exhibition hall is divided into three parts: hard work (1942-1957), brilliant instructions (1957-1978) and carrying on the cause and opening up the future (after 1978). In recent years, the people of lijiazhai village have introduced and cultivated cherries, and planted all the ten thousand mu terraced fields and hillside cliffs that have been renovated for many years. The first lijiazhai cherry festival was held on May 15 of this year, allowing tourists to experience the pride of lijiazhai people in harnessing water and mountain while picking cherries. Red tourism and eco-tourism have achieved a perfect combination.

Around the 1950s, the hardworking and intelligent lijiazhai people faced with the harsh natural environment, controlled the mountains and rivers, fought against heaven and earth, and constantly achieved a good harvest of food. They achieved the goal of the outline of the agricultural development plan 10 years ahead of schedule!

Contents of exhibition hall

In order to remember the glorious history of lijiazhai, lijiazhai exhibition hall was built three times in 1977, 1993 and 2002. However, due to limited conditions, the exhibition content is not rich enough. Since 2004, the Party committee and government of Pingshang town have collected pictures and materials in various ways according to the requirement of "building lijiazhai exhibition hall into a revolutionary traditional education base" put forward by Comrade Li Qun, Secretary of Linyi Municipal Party committee. The newly built exhibition hall covers an area of 760 square meters. More than 600 precious historical pictures and more than 80 objects are displayed, which fully reflects the spirit of hard work and courage of lijiazhai people.

In May 2005, the second new exhibition hall of lijiazhai, with an investment of 1.5 million yuan, was built and named "Yimeng spiritual education base" by the Propaganda Department of the municipal Party committee. The contents of the exhibition hall (more than 600 pictures and more than 130 objects) are arranged in chronological order. The exhibition hall is divided into three parts: hard work (1942-1957), brilliant instructions (1957-1978) and carrying forward the past (after 1978). In order to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Chairman Mao's instruction to lijiazhai, in 2007, the third part of lijiazhai exhibition hall (the part of carrying forward the past and opening up the future) was set up again. This time, there are 9 exhibition rooms and 1 corridor, 58 exhibition boards, covering an area of 73 square meters. In 2007, lijiazhai exhibition hall was named "education base for Party members" by the Organization Department of the municipal Party committee. For 16 years, Party branch secretary Li yuekun and team leader Li Yueju have led the people of lijiazhai village to dig and prepare the land, move rivers and change roads to build the land, and dig and prepare the land to build three in one terraces. During the past 21 years, Li rinai, Secretary of the Party branch, Li Yongsen, deputy secretary of the Party branch, and other people have been working together with the people of lijiazhai to develop farmland and water conservancy infrastructure. Since the reform and opening up, the people of lijiazhai have actively done a good job in Party building under the new situation, promoted economic development, comprehensively promoted the construction of three rural civilizations and the concern of leaders at all levels for lijiazhai.

In December 2013, the new lijiazhai exhibition hall was completed, started construction, and put into use in May of the same year. It is known as "the first museum of land consolidation in China".

The new hall, with a circular appearance and a building area of 5000 square meters, highlights the sense of historical sculpture. Its function is positioned as the red theme exhibition hall of lijiazhai spirit. It commemorates Chairman Mao Zedong's personal instruction that "lijiazhai is a good example for Yugong to move mountains and transform China". It shows the glorious history of lijiazhai people, reproduces the spirit of lijiazhai people's hard struggle and courage to be the first, and creates a revolutionary heritage near Hong Kong Tonghe Yimeng spiritual education base.
