Pheasant mountain is located at the east end of Shanghai Road, the west side of Lijiang River and the Bank of Ningyuan River in Guilin City, Guangxi Province, with Xiangbi mountain in the north and Nanxi mountain and Tashan in the south. Due to the urban construction, pheasant mountain is now surrounded by the city power supply company.

Pheasant mountain is 202.7 meters above sea level, 53 meters above sea level, 130 meters long and 130 meters wide, with an area of 0.44 hectares. The pheasant mountain bridge connecting the East and west of the city is at its feet. There are more than ten stone carvings (since Song Dynasty) on the cliff of pheasant mountain, which was once a popular place for people to visit.

Fairy Tales

There is a local story about Xiangshan and pheasant mountain. It is probably about the pheasant demon riding her horn elephant to Guilin to commit many crimes. Later, the elephant was influenced by Chang'e to benefit the people. When the pheasant demon saw that the elephant was influenced, she stabbed it to death with a sharp sword. Chang'e saw this scene and took up the mirror to kill the pheasant demon behind the elephant. Later, the elephant turned into the elephant mountain, and the pheasant demon turned into the pheasant mountain. At that time, the handle of the pheasant demon's sword turned into a pagoda on the elephant mountain. After being hit by the demon mirror, it broke into seven pieces. The common people hung it on the hillside of Putuo Mountain, and later it became the famous Seven Star Rock.
