Yandun, also known as "Yandun", was built in the Yuan Dynasty. According to the literature, there were five towns in Beijing in the yuan and Ming Dynasties, and the town in the South was Yandun. Yandun is a square pier with narrow top and wide bottom. Because the South belongs to fire in the "five elements", it should be built with beacon towers. Yandun was only an earthen platform when it was first built in the Yuan Dynasty. It was only built with bricks when Beijing built the outer city in 1553. On Yandun stands a stele made by Emperor Qianlong of Qing Dynasty. It is one of the famous steles in Beijing. It was listed as a municipal cultural relic protection unit in 1984.
