A boat coffin in a gully

Jiagou boat coffin is a relic of the burial custom of the ancient Yue people living in Wuyishan area in ancient times. It is a kind of coffin with peculiar shape. It is mainly distributed in dazang peak, dolomite, Dawang peak and other places in Wuyi Mountain. Up to now, there are still relics such as a boat coffin and hongqiaoban.

There are two types of boat coffins: one is the shape of a boat with two ends tilted up; the other is the shape of a square box, commonly known as "letter". The so-called "Hongqiao board" is the board used to support the coffin or set up the plank road.

It is still a mystery how the ancestors of Wuyishan hanged a boat coffin in a cave between the cliffs for burial when the productivity was very low more than 3000 years ago.
