Cai's ancient courtyard

Cai's ancient courtyard

Cai's scholarly house is about 80 kilometers away from Nanning. Cai's Shuxiang ancient house is composed of CAI's Academy, Cai's Shuxiang ancient house group, xiaojinyang building and Western style house. It was built in Zhengde period of Ming Dynasty and has a history of more than 500 years. In Qing Dynasty, Cai Lingxiao was rebuilt in the ninth year of Xianfeng.

From the middle of Ming Dynasty, the Cai family set up the CAI academy to worship Confucius and educate future generations with Confucianism. Building area of 15000 square meters, 189 rooms, a total of a series of complete defense system and drainage system. The main building is divided into main hall, second Hall and third hall. The main hall is the highest, followed by the second Hall and the third hall, which reflects the supreme position of the main hall. There is a front corridor connecting the left and right of each hall, and a patio in the middle, which forms the architectural pattern of "four rivers return to the hall" and reflects the folk architectural concept of "four sides gather money".

The ancient courtyard building complex is divided into "old house" and "new house", with a construction area of 15000 square meters and 189 large and small houses, all of which are three entry green brick houses. Before getting married, the women of the Cai family had to live in the "married house" for a period of time. "Sitting room on the moon" is even more peculiar. It is a special room for women to take a bath and wash clothes during their confinement. Men generally have to avoid it. The bowed door is lower than the general door. The inner room is actually a granary. The special bowed door is designed for people to bow when they enter the granary to show respect for the hard won grain. Since the Ming Dynasty, eight disciples of the Cai family have become Taixue students, and the first place in the Cai family is Taixue. What's more valuable is that Cai's ancient courtyard is permeated with the fragrance of books, which has been lingering ever since. From the middle of the Ming Dynasty, the Cai family set up LAN GUI academy, a private school, to let their children accept the extremely strict and even cruel education of "Tu Yan Jia Jie Chi". He also built a temple to worship Confucius for a long time, and educated future generations with Confucianism. It has formed a style of reading which has been handed down from generation to generation. All the children of Cai family can inherit the family precepts, work hard to study, and come out from generation to generation. They have become a well-known scholarly family in Guangxi. Nowadays, many scholars in the county spontaneously come to the ancient courtyard to worship before the exam, in order to get good results.
