The total length of the coastline is about 4.9 km, the projected area is about 0.87 square km, and the natural form surface area is about 0.96 square km. The island is east-west, about 1.6 km long, about 1 km wide, and about 200 m wide at the narrowest point. The northwest part of the island is basically leveled due to quarrying, and the South and east part are low hills. The highest point is located in the middle of the south side of the island, with an altitude of 93 meters.

The surface layer is yellow sandy soil with some exposed rocks and low grass and shrubs. The terrain is high and broad in two parts, low and narrow in the East, with east-west trend. Triangle mountain, the main peak, is in the middle of the western part of the island, overlooking the whole island. The northern coast is the dangerous cliff bank, the rest is the rock bank and Leishi beach, with a slope of 24-27 degrees. The main bays are the triangle Bay and the northern Bay. There are dry reefs and open reefs in the south coast of the island. The west is Qingzhou waterway, the East is chitanmen waterway, and the south is deltaimen waterway.

Development

On April 12, 2011, the State Oceanic Administration announced the list of the first batch of uninhabited islands in China. The leading uses of island development involve tourism and entertainment, transportation, industry, storage, fishery, agriculture, forestry and animal husbandry, renewable energy, urban and rural construction, public services and other fields. There are 176 uninhabited islands in the first batch of development and utilization, including Zhuhai Triangle Island.

In February 2017, Zhuhai jiukong Blue Ocean Tourism Development Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Zhuhai Jiuzhou Holding Group Co., Ltd., obtained the right to develop and use the Delta Island tourism.

In March 2017, the signing ceremony of the contract for the listing and transfer of the tourism development and use right of Zhuhai Triangle Island was held in Zhuhai resort hotel. This is the first project in Guangdong Province to adopt the "public welfare + tourism" development mode, and also the first demonstration project in China to transfer the right to use uninhabited islands in a market-oriented way.

In December 2017, Zhuhai Triangle Island Sports, leisure, science and education demonstration project (hereinafter referred to as "Triangle Island project") was officially started, marking the beginning of the construction of the first uninhabited island developed in the mode of "public welfare + tourism" in China.

The Triangle Island project will take ecological restoration, science and technology support, and global tourism as the development concept to build an ecological civilization demonstration Island, a national model of uninhabited island development, and an island tourism resort in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao.
