Xiaozhai

Xiaozhai is located about 30 meters south of Hefeng bridge (Zhongmei bridge), No.6 Shangtang, Zhongshi. Built in 1889, it covers an area of more than 1000 square meters. It is a well preserved Qing Dynasty residence. This house was originally built by the Yang family of the Wu Ju people in the Qing Dynasty, and later sold to Xiao Bingli, a famous family in the middle of the Li Dynasty, so it is called Xiao house. Xiao Bingli teaches in the "five high schools" and has made contributions to local public welfare. His son Xiao Naizhen studied in Germany, and his granddaughter Xiao Fangfang is a Hong Kong film actress. Now Xiao Fangfang performing arts hall is set up in Xiao's house.

Commemorative figures

Xiao Bingli (1881-1946), a famous fisherman, graduated from Suzhou Normal University. Later, he coached in "five high" and founded an electric lamp factory with Shen Baihan, Yan Darong and others. He once served as the vice president of the township Council and made many contributions to local public welfare. His son Xiao Naizhen studied in Germany in his early years. Her granddaughter, Xiao Fangfang, now lives in Hong Kong.
