Cave 3

The cave is located at the western end of the eastern district. Yungang is the largest grottoes, grottoes unique shape, its plane is concave shape. It is different from other caves in appearance. At the bottom of the cave are two cave doors, which lead into the inner cave and seem to be cave doors; the East cave forms its own door and connects with the inner cave. The top of the two small holes forms a large platform. On the East and west sides of the platform are the remains of the square tower, about three floors. The weathering is very serious. There is an image niche in the middle. Two bright windows are opened on both sides of the niche to illuminate the cave. There is a row of 12 large rectangular beam holes on the top of the window. On the top of the beam hole is the top of the mountain, on which there were "several stone chambers". Cave 3 is a marvel in Yungang Grottoes, which is also rare in the whole country. Cave 3 is a mysterious cave. It is huge, broad and far-reaching, making people feel like a natural cave.

Look at the caves again. Enter the inner cave from the West cave. The cave is very big. The shape of the cave is also very irregular. Its plane is concave. The width of the bottom is more than 40 meters, the depth of both sides is 15 meters, and the height of the cave is nearly 20 meters. There are only three big Buddha statues in such a huge cave. These three statues are carved on the west side of the protruding wall, accounting for only one third of the wall. The sculpture of these three statues is very exquisite and different from other Yungang statues. In addition, there are no statues on the four walls of the cave.
