Sand Island Beach / shell sand beach

Sand island beach is located in Hengchun Peninsula, Pingtung County, about 39 kilometers away from Ping'e highway. It is the only shell beach in Taiwan. Because the bay is a place where wave energy is reduced, shells and corals in the nearby sea area have been eroded by sea tide for a long time, and the fine sand formed by crushing and grinding has accumulated in the bay. Shell fragments, coral reef fossils and foraminiferal fossils account for about 50% of the beach The amount of sand is 98%, and the "shell sand beach" is famous at home and abroad. Shell sand beach is bright, crystal clear and beautiful. There is a shell sand exhibition hall beside the sand island, equipped with microscopic viewing facilities.
