Taiyuan art museum is located at No.1 Guangjing Road, Changfeng business district, Taiyuan city. It is a new provincial and municipal key cultural landmark project of Taiyuan Municipal People's government. It is a public welfare, open and permanent cultural institution in charge of Taiyuan Municipal Bureau of culture. It undertakes the collection, collection, display and exhibition of art works, literature, and uses art resources to carry out education promotion, academic research, foreign exchange and cooperation Art Museum of leisure service.

Taiyuan art museum is located in the northeast corner of cultural island in Changfeng cultural business district, close to Shanxi Provincial Library, covering an area of 61901 square meters, with a construction area of 32075 square meters, including 27255 square meters above ground and 4820 square meters underground. The architectural form of Taiyuan art museum is 5 floors above ground and 1 floor underground. It is designed by famous designer and Professor Cohen of Harvard University. It is jointly designed by American PSC design office and Architectural Design Institute of Southeast University. There are 10 exhibition halls of various specifications in the museum, of which 2 are first-class exhibition halls and 8 are second-class exhibition halls. The area and height of exhibition halls are different. The highest exhibition hall is as high as 13 meters. The extraordinary scale, unique roof and the interweaving of light and shadow constitute an elegant art Palace. In addition, there are central hall, multi-functional academic lecture hall, conference room, art supermarket, training classroom, mounting room, restoration room, artist salon, children's art world, leisure coffee shop and other supporting facilities with social service function and leisure entertainment function.

Design

The architectural design of Taiyuan art museum is inspired by the terraced landforms of Jinzhong with Shanxi characteristics, and its final form is a novel and geometrically tensive architectural volume. The internal zigzag plane form provides visitors with the space experience of different scenery; the continuity and continuous variation of space volume achieve the penetrating effect of "the courtyard is a little deep". Around the irregular open atrium, irregular plane exhibition halls are arranged around the building. These exhibition halls are distributed at different elevations through ramps and elevators and spiral upward. Finally, they cantilever above the main entrance, with the maximum cantilever length of 22m.

The museum is composed of a series of continuous and discontinuous spaces, and can choose the tour route independently. A ramp from the outside connects many rich spaces inside and outside the building, such as hard square, lawn and sculpture garden. The integration of architecture and landscape enables the art museum to cope with the large pattern of Fenhe scenic belt, while ensuring the integrity and particularity of its own spatial sequence.
