Zhanjiang museum is located in Chikan District, the beautiful Cunjinqiao park on the west mountain of Yueying lake. The building imitates the appearance of China Military Museum in Beijing. The top of the building is a red star steeple, tall and majestic.

The exhibition hall covers an area of 30000 square meters. It is surrounded by a towering banyan tree, ancient banyan trees and a beautiful environment.

The museum was built and opened in 1960. The title of the museum is Dong Biwu. There are six exhibition rooms in the museum, which are used to hold local history, cultural relics display and temporary special exhibition. The basic display includes: Zhanjiang people's anti French struggle exhibition, collection of ancient bronze drum exhibition, collection of ceramics exhibition, etc.

With cultural relics, documents and auxiliary exhibits, the exhibition shows the struggle process of Suixi people in Zhanjiang against the forced delimitation of Guangzhou Bay concession by France from 1898 to 1899. The theme is prominent and the atmosphere is moving.

For a long time, it has been a place for patriotic education. The display of ancient bronze drums uses photoelectric and scene effects to show more than 20 aspects of Beiliu and Lingshan bronze drums unearthed in western Guangdong from Han Dynasty to Sui and Tang Dynasty. This paper introduces their ethnic origin, uses and traditional cultural characteristics, from which we can understand the history and art of ancient Lingnan ethnic groups.

More than 100 pieces of ceramics are selected from thousands of pieces in the exhibition, which shows the development situation of China's ceramics and the characteristics of western Guangdong ceramics in the order of times. In addition, various art exhibitions are held. The exhibition hall of the museum is spacious and the colors are harmonious. You can get artistic influence from it. Since April 2002, Zhanjiang Museum has been open to the public free of charge with the strong support of the municipal Party committee and the municipal government. It is the first Municipal Museum in China to be opened free of charge. China Heritage daily once opened a special column to discuss whether museums can be opened free of charge, which has aroused strong repercussions in the society.

Zhanjiang Museum pays attention to the advantages of cultural relics collection, exhibition site and close to cultural relics protection units at all levels in the community, enlivens the exhibition, and carries out various forms of patriotism education and revolutionary tradition education for the community, with rich contents, various forms and good results.

Zhanjiang museum was named civilized unit of cultural system of Guangdong Province in 1992 and patriotic education base of Zhanjiang City in 1995. It was awarded the title of "excellent patriotic education base of national cultural relics system" by the State Administration of cultural relics. In 1999, the museum was comprehensively renovated, the environment was beautified, the exhibition hall was decorated, and the rich cultural relics display and temporary special exhibition were held, which became an important position of cultural construction in Zhanjiang City.
