Yili River Scenic Spot

Yili River is derived from the meaning of "willow tree covered river" in Yi language. Yili River scenic area is a large-scale scenic area composed of 111 scenic spots in Yili River area, Jinzhong mountain area, changhaizi and Daqiao black necked Crane nature reserve. There are four cascade hydropower stations across Yili River, Maojiacun reservoir, which is the largest earth dam in China and the second largest in the world. There are also many places of interest, such as wintering habitat of black necked Crane, rhododendron flowers, ancient post road of Alpine colorful grass, Yunfeng waterfall, Huize city and Jinzhong mountain. The upper reaches of Yili River are picturesque, just like a landscape painting. The middle reaches of Yili River have gentle water flow and graceful willows on both sides. At the intersection of xiaojiangkou and Jinsha River, the lower reaches of Yili River form a magnificent scene with three peaks and two rivers. The altitude here is only 695 meters. The mountain peaks are steep and the surge is swift, showing a charming subtropical scenery.
