More than 300 years ago, the ancient Sizhou City, which was flooded by the flood of the Yellow River, has been considered to be in the water of Hongze Lake and Huaihe River. However, after nearly a year's exploration, the Institute of cultural and natural heritage of Nanjing University has proved that this prosperous ancient city, once the water transport center of Bianhe River, was not submerged in Hongze Lake, but only one tenth of it was submerged in the water of Huaihe River. Most of it faces the first mountain of Xuyi county across the Huaihe River.
