Jinniu cave

The ancient mining site of jinniudong in Tongling is a national 2A scenic spot. It is located in Fenghuang village, Xinqiao Town, Yi'an District, Tongling City, more than 30 kilometers away from the urban area. It used to be a small hill. It got its name from an ancient cave called "Jinniu cave" on the Western hillside.

In the early 1980s, after many archaeological excavations by relevant experts here, from the clearing of many ancient mining tunnels and a number of mining tools and pottery utensils, it can be seen that the age of jinniudong ancient mining site began in the spring and Autumn period, which has important historical value for the study of Chinese bronze culture and mining history. In 1992, the Tongling municipal government ordered to stop the mining of iron ore here, and carried out the rescue repair of Jinniu cave. The restored Jinniu cave site is magnificent and spectacular. In the center of the entrance is a black stone tablet, in the west is a spacious parking lot, in the north is the ruins exhibition hall, and in the southwest is an inscription gallery along the Acacia river bank and a mineral and Rock Forest in Tongling area. After the Tonglushan ancient copper mine site, it has become the second officially open ancient copper site in China.
