"Bird Paradise", also known as "Bird Paradise", is a tourist scenic spot with unique bird ecological landscape as its theme, integrating eco-tourism, cultural tourism, health tourism and leisure tourism.

Bird paradise is located on the sand bar of Tianma River in Tianma village, Xinhui District, Jiangmen City, 100 km away from Guangzhou city. It is one of the largest natural bird watching parks in China.

History of scenic spots

In fact, the main body of bird paradise is a water banyan tree, which grows in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty. The branches of water banyan tree drop to the ground, plunge into the soil, and become a new trunk. As time goes on, the big banyan tree grows into a forest, and there are thousands of birds in the forest, and the birds depend on each other.

In 1933, after visiting here, Ba Jin, a writer, expressed his feelings and wrote the famous prose paradise of birds.

In 1984, Mr. Ba Jin wrote "Bird Paradise" in his own handwriting, and bird paradise got its name from then on.

In 2002, it was planned and expanded again, and the natural ecological communities of animals and plants were carefully protected and optimized to form a large multi-functional scenic spot covering an area of 400000 square meters, with the unique bird ecological landscape as the theme, integrating eco-tourism, cultural tourism, health tourism and leisure tourism.

In 2011, the bird paradise scenic spot was reconstructed and expanded again to create a wetland park with the theme of unique bird ecological landscape.

"Bird Paradise" is located in Tianma village river, 10km south of Xinhui City, Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province, China. It is one of the largest natural bird watching parks in China and an eco-tourism attraction.

Climatic characteristics

Bird paradise is located in the south of Tropic of cancer, a subtropical monsoon climate. Summer is long and winter is short. The period of high temperature is from mid June to early September. The whole year has four distinct seasons, mild climate, sufficient heat, abundant rainfall and long frost free period.

Bird paradise, formerly known as "bird mound", is a 15 meter tall banyan tree with dancing banyan leaves covering more than 20 mu of the river. The branches of the banyan tree grow aerial roots. After landing, they become lignified and grow into new branches. On the new stem, fresh air takes root and becomes a banyan cluster with intricate roots and branches.

Birdie paradise ancient giant banyan is a water banyan in the genus Ficus of Moraceae. It is a subtropical sunny evergreen tree with single or paired inflorescences on fallen leaf veins. Its fruit is oblate and ripens from July to December. It is distributed in southeast, South and southwest of China, and also in southern Asia and Oceania.

The scenic area has built a water body on the island, and also planted water banyan, willow, foxtail, ginger, lotus, lotus, lover chrysanthemum and other plants.

Bird Resources

Night heron, pond heron, cattle egret and little egret are the most common birds in bird paradise. In addition, there are nearly 40 species, such as egret, white babbler, Magpie Robin, blackbird, tit, white headed Bulbul, red eared Bulbul, dark green embroidered eye bird, silky starling, Common Kingfisher, white breasted jadeite and Pearl necked turtledove.

There are four kinds of herons living in Bird Paradise: grey heron, egret, pond heron and cattle egret. From the aspect of appearance, apart from their different body types, their feather colors are also obviously different. Grey heron (commonly known as "Night Tour") is mainly dark grayish brown; egret is snow white (also known as snow Heron); pond heron in summer, head, neck and chest miliary red, from shoulder to tail covered with blue black coir feather, back mouse gray, the rest is white, winter is no crown feather and blue black coir feather, head, neck, chest with black brown and yellow white related longitudinal grain; cattle egret feather color also varies with season In spring, summer and autumn, the head, neck, upper chest and back are decorated with orange feathers. In winter, the whole body is snow-white, and only the head and back neck are decorated with yellow.

Rongyin waterway

Water town style exhibition hall

The exhibition hall shows the life style of men and women weaving in the past, arouses the most unforgettable memories in people's hearts with the most primitive tools of labor, and displays the national customs of Xinhui. There are more than 70 kinds of exhibits in the museum, including all kinds of wooden, bamboo, large-scale furniture, old-fashioned clothing and other original products and daily necessities. Besides the old waterwheel, old fishing net, shrimp chop, shrimp wash and seedling boat, there are also wedding supplies for people on water.

Bird Museum

Covering an area of 1500 square meters, it is a large-scale bird science exhibition hall integrating bird knowledge, pictures, specimens, human and bird performance, multimedia remote observation of bird activities and breeding.

In order to increase the enjoyment and participation, the bird show hall is specially set up in the bird Museum. There are more than 20 kinds of lively and interesting bird performances: cycling, spinning ball, walking steel wire, playing basketball, jigsaw puzzle, holding money in the air, etc., 10 times a day, 30 minutes each. Birds are very human, lovely performance, often won bursts of laughter and warm applause of tourists.

Bird watching Gallery

It is about one kilometer long and can be viewed from different angles. The bird watching corridor has been widened to 45 meters and a new yacht wharf has been built. Visitors can take a boat trip to see the bird ecology on the bird island.

Bird watching building

The bird watching building, originally the teaching building of Tianma middle school, was built in the 1980s and donated by overseas Chinese. Visitors on the third floor can overlook the ancient banyan trees and even the whole scenic area.

Bird Park

Covering an area of 3000 square meters, it can be used for tourists to feed and watch birds in close range. In order to let the tourists see the beautiful style of "king of birds", the Bird Paradise Bird Park brings up male peacocks. When the peacocks open the screen, with their body shaking, their whole body is shining with a dazzling blue color. The feathers of the tail screen instantly stand up and slowly unfold, forming a colorful fan screen with a diameter of more than 2 meters. What's more, there is a very rare white peacock in the garden. It is dressed in pure white feathers and has a tail screen as long as snow gauze. It is as noble as a holy bird floating from the snow kingdom.

Bajin Plaza

Wuyi area covers the largest Memorial square. The square is very broad, surrounded by green trees and lush. There is a fountain in the center of the square and a stone carving with Mr. Bajin's famous "bird's paradise" beside it.

Legend of scenic spot

As early as the Ming Dynasty, there was a village called "Tianma village". In the 46th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1618 according to the genealogical records of the Chen family of Tianma Village), the population of the village increased and the water was insufficient. The villagers dug a river in front of the village, which was called "Tianma River". After the river was dug, the village suffered disaster for several years, and many people died.

One day, a geomantic gentleman from Jiangxi came to the village. He said to the villagers: the water flowing from Yinzhou Lake through jinniutou is flowing with gold and silver, but this river is not suitable. The river faces east, and the people are empty. To ensure safety and a good life, we need to build a "pier" in the center of the river to block the water. According to their instructions, the villagers dug and transported mud to build a "mound" in the river. After the mound was finished, a villager inserted a banyan branch into the mound.

A few years later, unconsciously, this banyan branch grew into a big banyan tree with luxuriant branches, which attracted thousands of birds to inhabit and breed, and finally formed the world-famous "bird mound" - bird paradise.

Young writers discover "paradise"

In 1933, a young writer came here for a tour. At first, he was disappointed, then he was surprised. When many egrets, grey herons and thrushes were jubilant in the banyan forest, he wrote a popular essay paradise of birds. Later, the young writer Ba Jin finally became a famous literary master in the country. His prose was also selected into the primary school textbooks. Generation after generation of primary school students read the text under the guidance of their teachers. From then on, also forever in the memory of this magical oasis, as well as the number of unknown birds.

At that time, the small village gradually developed into a lively polder Town, and the birds appeared in Ba Jin's prose may no longer exist, but the water is still this bay of clear water, and the forest is still such a banyan forest.
