Tanghe ancient town

Tanghe ancient town is located at the junction of Chongqing and Sichuan in the southwest of Jiangjin District of Chongqing. It is located in the Heishishan gunziping scenic area of Chongqing (provincial level). It is adjacent to Baisha Town and Yongxing Town in the northeast and Hejiang town in Sichuan in the southwest.

G93 Chengdu Chongqing Ring Expressway and Chongqing third ring expressway pass through the territory, 48 km away from Jiangjin and 78 km away from Chongqing. As the transportation hub and material distribution center of Chongqing, Sichuan and Guizhou, Tanghe ancient town is named after the river. Because of water transportation, the town became prosperous in Ming and Qing Dynasties. It was full of boats and horses and merchants, which precipitated the profound and brilliant civilization history of the ancient town. With its splendid ancient architectural culture, simple folk customs and picturesque elegant environment, this simple and vigorous small market town became the third batch of Chinese historical and cultural towns in 2007 and the fourth batch of beautiful and livable towns in China. Tanghe town governs three villages and one community, among which shilongmen village and Dongzhai village became the third batch of traditional Chinese villages in 2014 and the first batch of municipal historical and cultural villages in Chongqing in 2017. It is named health town and ecological town in Chongqing. Due to the well preserved ancient town of Yuanzhen, it is favored by many film and television troupes. It has shot more than 80 films and TV series, such as "red memory", "paper intoxication", "fog city", "Hometown", "mother, mother", "women of Luolong town" and "happy photo studio".

During the Dragon Boat Festival, businessmen and people from all over the world gather here to hold dragon boat races to commemorate Qu Yuan and pray for safe sailing and good weather. Over time, the Tanghe River Dragon Boat race has formed a folk custom, which has been inherited and become one of the most popular mass sports activities among the local people.

In recent years, many dragon boat races have been held in the ancient towns of Sichuan, Chongqing and Guizhou, which have a great influence in Chongqing, Sichuan and Guizhou.

Historical evolution

Tanghe ancient town has a long history. As early as 2000 years ago, there were human settlements. Since the construction of Wangye temple in the Ming Dynasty, houses were built one after another to become market towns. It became prosperous in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, and got its name because of Tanghe River around the field. Tanghe has always been under the jurisdiction of Jiangjin. It belonged to sishanli in the Qing Dynasty. It belonged to Shiquan town in the 10th year of the Republic of China. It was built in the 30th year of the Republic of China. After liberation, it was still under the jurisdiction of Yongxing District. In 2001, Jiangjin readjusted the scale of towns and townships again. Tanghe still has a town with three villages and one residence, covering an area of 64 square kilometers and a population of 18000.

Current situation of scenic spots

Among the overlapping buildings in the ancient town, several buildings of Anhui style rarely seen in Bayu are inserted, which is amazing. The Wangye temple, built in the Ming Dynasty, still retains its original appearance. Both the main hall and the theater building are decorated with flying eaves and painted walls. The pine, bamboo, plum and seal script on the front of the theater building are still outstanding.

Longmen, opposite wangyemiao street, is a place for boaters to meet in Tanghe River in ancient times. The horse head gable, rolling shed bucket arch, supporting bow sparrow, exquisite structure and exquisite workmanship show that Longmen, as a boat guild hall, was extremely successful at that time.

There is a magnificent temple at the commanding height of Tanghe ancient town. It is Qingyuan palace built in the 13th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty. Unfortunately, only the old palace wall remains.

The Zhujia western style building built along the street is even more unique. It skillfully integrates the Chinese and Western architectural techniques, and integrates the western architectural culture into the overlapping Chinese architecture. It's amazing to witness the crystallization of the collision of Chinese and Western cultures in the far mountain area.

Shilongmen manor, 2 kilometers away from the ancient town block, was built in the early years of Qianlong reign of Qing Dynasty. It covers an area of 2 hectares, with a construction area of 13200 square meters and more than 520 houses. Because of its grand scale and extraordinary atmosphere, it was established as a cultural relic protection unit in Jiangjin city. The whole manor is exquisitely designed, ingenious and magnificent. Through the hall, nine middle gates and nine passes, the "dragon's gate array" is formed; the two chambers and eighteen patios are combined to form the "eight array" picture, which is magnificent. Entering the manor, crossing the house and the courtyard, it's like entering the "eight trigrams labyrinth".

Yanchong ancestral hall, also known as Sunjia ancestral hall, was built in the 18th year of Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty. It covers an area of 0.3 hectares and has a construction area of more than 2000 square meters. It is a typical example of the well preserved ancestral hall in Jiangjin and Chongqing.

In addition, the qiandanyan Han tombs, hongyandongzhai, Tiantai baiyun temple and gunziping village scattered around Tanghe ancient town also have many historical relics since the Western Han Dynasty, which are valuable materials for studying the historical and cultural development of Bashu.

For thousands of years, the ancient town has formed a unique and profound folk custom. Every festival to catch up with temple fairs, singing dramas, offering sacrifices to gods, bustling. Coir raincoat and bamboo hat shops, street embroidery houses, bamboo mat houses, red blacksmith shops, conservative teahouses and pubs are everywhere. Sichuan opera singing, stone carving skills, wedding sedan chair, bamboo rafts on the Tanghe River, fishing boats, what a leisurely life picture.

Walking into the Tanghe River, people can't help but blend into the well preserved natural ecological landscape and traditional historical culture. The magnificent gunziping, dense forest, dangerous cave, green bamboo along the river, primitive and ancient Alsophila spinulosa community, and rich and numerous historical and cultural relics add a lot of charming colors to the ancient town. It has become a rare pearl on the Golden Triangle tourism line of Chongqing, Sichuan and Guizhou, which is being developed and constructed by the state.

In the Western Han Dynasty, there were human settlements. In the Ming Dynasty, it was built and flourished in the Qing Dynasty. "Beautiful environment": on both sides of the Tanghe River, there are green bamboos, green mountains and green water. "Numerous cultural relics": there are 18 municipal and town level cultural relics protection units in Ming and Qing Dynasties, including ancient buildings, temples, inscriptions, manors, ancestral halls, guild halls, Zhaimen, Zhandao, Guqiao, and the 32111 drilling team hero Memorial Hall. "Unique customs": traditional old blocks, traditional folk customs, folk customs, folk feelings constitute a unique style painting. "Primitive wild interest": the largest primitive Alsophila spinulosa community in Chongqing evokes people's pursuit of ancient myths. Shilongmen in Tanghe ancient town is the birthplace of LAN Caihe, one of the eight immortals of Taoism. Today, there is still a tomb of Xu Jian, a Yishi of Tang Dynasty in shilongmen. According to the records of Song Dynasty by Huaxuan, LAN Caihe soared in a place called xiziping after hearing Yao music. However, it is impossible to find out exactly where xieziping is. According to historical records, he once met Li Duhua, the iron crutch, in a valley called Yuandong, and followed the road. In the early period of the Republic of China, there were well preserved caiheju in shilongmen, which was destroyed during the cultural revolution and now remains the foundation stone.

There are nearly 40000 square meters of Ming and Qing ancient buildings in Tanghe ancient town, which are mainly distributed in Tanghe ancient block, shilongmen manor and tingchong temple. The Tanghe ancient block covers an area of 2.8 hectares, and there are more than 20000 square meters of ancient buildings with different times and styles since the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The streets of the ancient town are built close to the mountains, winding up in a ladder shape from the riverside wharf. The main street connects hengjiezi and miaoxianzi, and is controlled by three village gates. Most of the buildings along the street are based on bluestone, brick and wood walls, odd eaves and brackets, carved beams and painted columns, which are well arranged and beautiful.

Tanghe town has the provincial scenic spot gunziping, Tanghe ancient town, one of the top ten historical and cultural towns in Chongqing, and the largest original Alsophila spinulosa community in Chongqing. With beautiful natural scenery, ancient and simple folk customs and gorgeous historical and cultural heritage, Tanghe town has very important historical and cultural protection value, architectural art value and tourism value.
