Far East Forest Museum

Muling Far East Forest Museum is located in Muling Economic Development Zone, with a total area of 2120.94 square meters. It consists of two floors and five exhibition halls. It is the first special museum in Mudanjiang area to comprehensively and systematically display forestry production, reflect the development process of forest industry and natural ecology.

There are more than 300 physical exhibits related to forestry production and 197 species of wildlife specimens, including 22 species of birds, 12 species of mammals and 163 species of insects. 76 species of economic plant specimens

Development history

The Far East Forest Museum officially started construction on June 2, 2008. It took 87 days to complete the construction of three indoor exhibition halls and outdoor exhibition areas, and officially opened on August 26.

In January 2010, we completed the production of 3D exhibition film of Suimu new city and the continued construction of exhibition hall

Exhibition Profile

Indoor exhibition hall

The total exhibition area is 2121 square meters, mainly showing the natural ecology of forest region, the history, present situation and future of forest industry, forest enterprise products, etc. The exhibition is a combination of physical objects, sand tables, specimens, pictures and multimedia, and the advanced sound, light and electricity technologies are used for large-scale display.

The process of wood production and transportation is simulated, and the scene of logging, skidding and loading of wood production is reproduced by combining motion and model.

Outdoor exhibition area

Covering an area of 9.18 hectares, it is a distinctive forest theme cultural park with garden construction techniques, introducing tree species with far east characteristics into the area, supplemented by public green space, pavilions, leisure and fitness facilities

Collection

There are more than 5100 physical exhibits related to forestry production, 197 species of wildlife specimens, including 22 species of birds, 12 species of mammals and 163 species of insects. There are 76 species of economic plant specimens, including the three hard broadleaved tree species such as Alsophila spinulosa, Juglans mandshurica and Fraxinus mandshurica, as well as precious timber species such as Korean pine and Quercus mongolica, and Taxus cuspidata, a national class I protected tree species known as the "living fossil" of the plant kingdom. The average age of these tree specimens is about 200 years old
