Located in the south of Wenchang middle school in Wenchang County, it was built in 1992 to commemorate the 100th birthday of General Zhang Yunyi. The memorial hall faces west and covers an area of 7962 square meters. It is 8 meters high and 12 meters wide. The top is divided into two layers and decorated with green glazed tiles. In the middle of menmei is engraved six gold characters of "Zhang Yunyi Memorial Hall" inscribed by Nie Rongzhen. Between the gate and the exhibition room is a bronze statue of Zhang Yunyi, with a total height of 8 meters.

The exhibition room is divided into two floors and three parts. The whole memorial hall is a self-contained one with rigorous layout. The green grass in the hall is white, the flowers and trees are sparse, and the environment is elegant.

Zhang Yunyi

(1892-1974), senior general of the Chinese people's Liberation Army, rank of general, strategist. He is from Touyuan Town, Wenchang City. Throughout his military career, he made great contributions to the cause of China's liberation. He died in Beijing on November 19, 1974 at the age of 82.

Traffic tips

It takes about 40 minutes from Haikou bus station to Wenchang station by express train via Haiwen Expressway (the ticket price of Haiqi express is 19 yuan, and that of other express trains ranges from 13 to 19 yuan, up by 30% during the Spring Festival).
