West Great Wall

The hanging wall is the north extension of Jiayuguan. As an important part of the ancient military defense system of Jiayuguan, the Great Wall is 11 kilometers away from Jiayuguan City and 6.5 kilometers northwest of Jiayuguan City. In 1539, in order to strengthen the defense of Jiayuguan, the Ming wall approached the south for the Bank of the river, and the dark wall led north to Heishan. Under the supervision of Li Han, a military preparation road in Suzhou, a great wall was built from the cliff on the south side of Heishan Gorge, along with the "dark wall" on the south side of the gorge, which blocked the Heishan Gorge and made the military defense system with Guancheng as the main body tighter. The main body of the Great Wall is rammed with gravel and loess near the mountain. There are three piers and abutments. After renovation in 1987, it is now 750 meters long. The overhanging great wall stands on the ridge of the mountain and falls down sharply along the peak, forming the tendency of hanging upside down and hanging iron arm in the air, so it is named. The Great Wall with overhanging walls has mandao, buttress walls and piers. Its shape and momentum are very similar to Badaling in Beijing. It looks very magnificent, so it is also known as "Badaling in the west".

Creative background

At the beginning of the founding of the people's Republic of China, the first corps of the Northwest Field Army went to Xinjiang. Together with the officers and soldiers of the peaceful uprising of Tao Zhiyue, they fought against bandits and rebellions, built politics and maintained stability, built canals to divert water, and reclaimed land. After years of painstaking management and hard work, they finally turned a large area of wasteland into an oasis in Xinjiang.
