Shigu Park

Shigu park is located outside the north gate of Hengyang City, at the confluence of steaming water and Xiangjiang River. It is regarded as one of the four academies in the world. Liu Zongyuan, Han Yu, Fan Chengda, Zhu Xi, Zhang Zai, Wen Tianxiang, Xu Xiake and Wang Fuzhi all visited or lectured here. In the Tang Dynasty, Li Kuan built his residence here, and in the Song Dynasty, it was built in one of the academies. In 1944, it was destroyed by Japanese artillery fire. In 1965, it built a park on the Academy site and changed its name to shigu park. Shigu Academy was rebuilt in 2006 and opened to the public in 2007. Shigu Park completed her historical mission.

Development history

Shigu Academy was founded in the Northern Song Dynasty. In the third year of Jingyou (1035) of the Northern Song Dynasty, Emperor Renzong of the Song Dynasty granted plaque stone drum Academy. It covers an area of about 4000 square meters. There is a big stone drum 2 meters high on the mountain. In the poem of stone drum watching by Geng zhongchu of Jin Dynasty, it is said that "the sound of the stone is latent, and the thunder is shocking nine days." Li Daoyuan of the Northern Wei Dynasty wrote in shuijingzhu: "there are stone drums in the county, which are six feet high. The Xiangshui river flows through the county, and the sound of the drums leads to military revolution." Shigu mountain is precipitous and has pleasant scenery. It is known as "the first resort in Hunan".

In 1902, the Academy was changed into a secondary school, and later it was also called the South Road normal school. In the Republic of China, women's vocational schools were set up. At the end of the Anti Japanese war in 1944, shigu Academy was bombed by Japanese invaders during the Hengyang defense war, and was basically destroyed. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Jiangting and other buildings were built in the Academy site, and shigu Park was built.

Four academies of Academy Series: Yuelu Academy, Bailudong academy, Songyang Academy (or shigu Academy), yingtianfu Academy in the early Song Dynasty: shigu academy, Yuelu Academy, Bailai academy, Jinshan Academy in the Northern Song Dynasty: Bailudong academy, Yuelu Academy, yingtianfu academy, Maoshan academy, Songyang academy, shigu Academy in the Southern Song Dynasty: Yuelu Academy Bailudong academy, Lize academy and Xiangshan Academy; other Academies: Mingzhi academy, Fengchi academy, Donglin Academy, Jijiang academy, Zhengyi academy, Zhongshan academy and Longmen Academy.

Main attractions

On the mountain, there was a Hejiang pavilion built by Qi Ying, the governor of the Tang Dynasty. Later, Han Yu wrote a poem about Hejiang Pavilion, which means "Yuanjing can't be spitted at".

Zhang Shi of Song Dynasty erected a stele in the pavilion, and Han Yu's poems were inscribed on the stele. On the right side of the pavilion is the back cave of Zhuling, which is said to reach Nanyue. Dong Fengxian of Tang Dynasty once lived in the cave to practice Jiuhua pill. There are ancient inscriptions on the cave door and the cave wall. The inscriptions on "Zhuling Houdong" and "Dongya" ancestral temple are still vivid. The stone drum mountain is decorated with ancient buildings such as Yuwang stele, Wuhou Temple, Daguanlou, huishitang, lizhongjie temple and Qixian temple. Zhu Xi praised it as a good place for a county and is known as the first resort in Hunan.

It is said that when there is a severe drought, people from Liliang village at the foot of the mountain come to pray for rain. When the incense is inserted in the gap between the stones, you can see a little bit of wet water. Fill a bottle with a few drops. You can see that the bottle is full of water within three days when you take it home. In these three days, there must be rain to relieve the drought.
