History Museum of cotang

The History Museum of Cotai, formerly known as the island city hall building, is located in the old town of Cotai, Macao. The two-story building, covering an area of 638 square meters, was built in 1920. It was rebuilt by the Macao Civil Affairs Administration and opened to the public on May 7, 2006.

Historic building of cotang

Formerly known as the city hall building of island city, the historical building of cotang is the administrative center of Macao's outlying islands in the past. It was built in 1920. The two-story building covers an area of 638 square meters, belonging to neoclassical architectural style. In 1992, the building was included in the list of Macao cultural relics, which is of architectural art value. Later, it was transformed into a special museum by the Macao Civil Affairs Administration.

exhibition

The meeting room of the former Island City Hall is preserved in the History Museum of cotang, and the stone structure site in the basement and the cultural relics found in it are also displayed. In addition, the exhibits of the museum are based on the island house of the longhuan puyun residential Museum, and then come from the cultural relics collection, visit and other research activities of different groups and residents in the region. The exhibition is divided into nine exhibition rooms to show the historical changes and residents' life in a ring-shaped way.

Archaeology

The second exhibition room displays the "stone structure site of the basement of the city hall of the former Island of Taipa" and cultural relics excavated in Taipa for the first time. It has a history of nearly 100 years. It is the first archaeological excavation conducted by Macao people in the archaeological history of Macao, and also the first archaeological excavation after the establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region.
