Black congnao

This huge mountain, more than 300 meters high, is surrounded by cliffs, with a top area of about 4 hectares. There is a large dark forest on it. In the 1970s, some forest farm workers tried to climb up to investigate, but they failed because of the rain. With the help of a telescope, you can clearly see the Wuling pine on it. Speaking of Wuling pine (also known as rock pine), it may not be as famous as Huangshan pine, but its characteristics are no less than Huangshan pine, which can be called a unique one in Zhangjiajie.

Black congnao

Heizongnao is located in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, at the north end of Huangshizhai top platform. It is named after a large black fir forest. This landscape is out of reach. It stands in a deep canyon. The platform is steep on all sides. It is covered with tall and lush pine forest and many miscellaneous trees, forming a large dark primeval forest. No one has ever set foot in this primeval forest since ancient times, only macaques and various wild animals have been out of it. There is a complete virgin forest in heizongnao.

Vegetation condition

The trees in the forest have the characteristics of "ancient, big, rare, strange and abundant". According to the preliminary investigation, there are more than 3000 species of higher plants in the forest. There are many key protected seed plants listed in the list of rare and endangered plants in China, including 107 species, 250 genera and 700 species of arbor species. Most of the trees are Pinus taiwanensis, Pinus spinosa, Pinus massoniana and Cunninghamia lanceolata, among which camphor, Phoebe and Tung are the most famous. Many trees are more than two meters in diameter at breast height and need to be hugged by several people. Its ancient and famous trees have gone through many vicissitudes, which is of great value to the study of the changes of ecological environment in history.

Mysterious forbidden area

In the 1970s, Gong Baocai, a former forest farm worker, and other three people, with their ancient climbing tools: hook (hanging on the tree branch), rope (tied on the waist) and bronze money (half inserted in the cracks of the rock house and half stepped on it with their toes), took the risk of climbing all day with their machetes and dry food. When it was dark, they finally climbed to the peak. They saw the molting of ancient trees, vines, birds and boa constrictors hanging between the branches. The humic layer on the ground is waist deep, about one meter thick. There are many ancient trees on it, and the biggest one needs to be surrounded by several people. On the edge of the stone wall, they also saw "Jigan fir", which is as hard as ox horn and does not decay for thousands of years. It is a kind of fir that has dried and died on the rock. Although all the leaves have fallen off, it is still alive, and it is as hard as iron.

The three thought that they had finally come up and wanted to go in to find out. Unexpectedly, there was a big storm. For fear that the stone would not slide down, they hurried down the cliff. Although they were scared out of cold sweat, there was no accident. Soon, the three were not reconciled, and they were ready to explore. It used to be a cloudless day, but as soon as I got to the stone wall of the middle of the mountain, suddenly there was thunder and lightning, wind and rain, and one of them slipped and almost fell into the abyss. From then on, no one dares to explore heizongnao, which is still a mysterious forbidden area to this day.
