Xishuangbanna National Museum is located on the East Bank of Lancang River in Jinghong City, on the hillside of Nanlian mountain with beautiful environment. The magnificent buildings face Jinghong City and are surrounded by verdant natural forest and rubber forest on three sides. The Museum covers an area of 150 mu, with a construction area of 16000 square meters. The total investment estimate is 155 million yuan, which is mainly supported by the state and provincial governments, and raised by the state government. By November 2010, the first phase construction project with an investment of more than 90 million yuan has been completed. The main exhibition of the museum is divided into five sections,

The first part is "looking back at Mengji - the historical picture of Xishuangbanna". Through archaeological discoveries, records of Chinese and Dai literature, and the glorious course of building a prosperous, democratic, civilized and harmonious Xishuangbanna under the leadership of the Communist Party of China since the liberation of Xishuangbanna on February 17, 1950, the history of Xishuangbanna is narrated.

The second part is "Ode to harmony -- Xishuangbanna national style", which shows the unique and colorful national culture of 13 ethnic groups, such as Dai, Hani, Bulang, Jinuo and Lahu.

The third section is "the charm of rainforest -- a glimpse of Xishuangbanna Nature", which shows Xishuangbanna's geography, nature, ancient creatures and modern creatures.

The fourth part is "cultural frontier - a harmonious home for multi-ethnic groups", which shows the cultural classics and artistic remains of all ethnic groups, the achievements of the inheritance and development of national folk culture and art, and the style of all ethnic groups who are good at singing and dancing to promote the progress of civilization and social development with rich and colorful culture.

The fifth part is "good neighborliness and friendship - Xishuangbanna, which is open to the living state". It shows the long history of exchanges between Xishuangbanna and the countries in the Mekong River Basin, conforms to the trend of the times, and comprehensively carries out all-round and wide-ranging exchanges and cooperation in economy and trade, science and technology, culture, cross-border tourism, and a vivid situation of mutual benefit and win-win.
