Daci Pavilion in Baoding

Located at the south end of Beida street, Baoding City, Hebei Province, Daci Pavilion, also known as Dabei Pavilion, is the largest ancient building in the city. According to the records of Baoding Prefecture, dacige was built in 1250 by Zhang Rou, marshal of the East West Road capital of Hebei Province. The present Daci pavilion was rebuilt many times after it was burned in Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty. Daci Pavilion covers an area of 1600 square meters, with a construction area of 600 square meters. The main existing buildings are Shanmen, Tianwang hall, bell tower, Drum Tower, Daci Pavilion and Guandi temple. Tianwang hall sits in the north and south, with a pair of stone lions in front of the door, and a banner of "Zhenjue temple" embedded on the lintel. There are traces of gold colored paintings with ink lines and small dots on the beams in the Tianwang hall, which were painted in 1811. Through the Tianwang hall, the bell tower and the drum tower face each other quietly. The height and shape of the second floor are the same, with a height of 10.9 meters each. Its architectural form is Xieshan with double eaves. The Cross Ridge is divided into two floors. To the north is the main building on a 4.6-meter-high stone foundation. Located at the south end of North Street, also known as Dabei Pavilion. It is reported that Zhang rouchu, a general of the Mongolian khanate, was built in the song and Jin Dynasties. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1736-1795), it was burned and rebuilt. Sitting in the north and south, there are three gates and three halls in front, with three double eaves, bells and drums in the East and West, and the second floor stands symmetrically. The Daci Pavilion is 31 meters high and majestic, and can be seen from dozens of miles. Once upon a time, there was a poem that "the top of Zhulou tree in Yanshi City is only a picture of the Golden Pavilion and the blue clouds.". Baoding as one of the eight, known as "City Pavilion Lingxiao.".
