Museum of terracotta warriors and horses of the Han Dynasty

In December 1984, more than 4800 painted terracotta warriors and horses of the Western Han Dynasty were unearthed around the lion mountain in the eastern suburb of Xuzhou. This group of pottery figurines, with a total of more than 4000 pieces, distributed in six pits, reflects the overall organizational system of the Chu Kingdom army enfeoffed in Xuzhou in the early Western Han Dynasty. There are not only officials but also ordinary soldiers in the infantry, such as figurines with long arms, figurines with hands and braids. Among the chariot soldiers, there are two kinds of Terracotta Warriors: the Armored Warriors and the Royal hands, which are of great significance to the study of the ancient military history of our country. As the burial figurines of the king of Chu, the facial expressions of all the pottery figurines are mostly pathetic and solemn, showing the outstanding craftsmanship and artistic expression of Chu craftsmen. This discovery is the third batch of important discoveries after the Western Han Dynasty painted terracotta warriors and horses in Yangjiawan, Xianyang, and the Qin Dynasty terracotta warriors and horses in Lintong, Xi'an. The local government has set up the second Museum of terracotta warriors and horses in China. The terracotta warriors and horses on display are divided into five categories: soldiers, officials, horses, armor and kneeling.
