Pingjiang historic district

Pingjiang historic district is a national 4A tourist attraction, located in the northeast corner of the ancient city of Suzhou. It has a history of more than 2500 years. It is the most typical and complete historical and cultural reserve of the ancient city of Suzhou, and can be called the epitome of the ancient city of Suzhou. In the block, there are world cultural heritage - Liangyuan, Kunqu exhibition area of oral and intangible cultural heritage of mankind - China Kunqu Museum (Quanjin guild hall), 9 cultural relics protection units, 43 controlled and protected buildings, and a large number of old buildings. Many ancient bridges, wells, trees and archways are scattered among them, and the ruins of Suzhou ancient city wall are also clearly visible. In history, many scholars and dignitaries also lived here.

Among them, there are one world cultural heritage "Liangyuan" (Asia Pacific World Heritage training and Research Center), one Kunqu Opera exhibition area of human oral and intangible cultural heritage "China Kunqu Museum", more than 100 provincial and municipal cultural relics, and more than 100 ancient urban landscapes such as city walls, rivers, bridges, alleys, dwellings, gardens, guildhalls, temples, ancient wells, ancient trees and memorial archways The style is basically the same.

Introduction to historic district

Pingjiang historic district is located in the northeast corner of Suzhou ancient city, with an area of 116.5 hectares, starting from waichenghe in the East, Linton road in the west, Ganjiang road in the South and Baita East Road in the north. With a history of more than 2500 years, it is the most typical and complete historical and cultural reserve of Suzhou. Up to now, it has maintained the double chessboard urban pattern of parallel roads and rivers, preserved the characteristics of Jiangnan Water City with small bridges, flowing water, people and deep ancient lanes, accumulated profound cultural heritage, gathered extremely rich historical sites and cultural landscape, including one world cultural heritage - Shuangyuan, nine cultural protection units, 43 control and protection buildings, and a large number of ancient buildings, bridges and wells Ancient trees, ancient archways, still retain the ruins of the ancient city wall. In history, many scholars and dignitaries once lived here. Up to now, the residents in the area still maintain the traditional way of life.

In the master plan of Suzhou City approved by the State Council in 1986, Pingjiang historic district was listed as an absolute reserve. In 2002, taking the opportunity of the 28th World Heritage conference held in Suzhou, the municipal Party committee and the municipal government launched the pilot project of Pingjiang road landscape protection and environmental improvement, and invited Ruan Yisan, a famous historical and cultural city protection expert, to prepare the block protection and improvement plan. In accordance with the basic requirements of maintaining the pattern of the ancient city, displaying the traditional style and features, beautifying the environment and landscape, and inheriting the history and culture, we have successively implemented basic projects such as house repair, river dredging, wharf repair, revetment capping, greening and replanting, road reconstruction, pipeline into the ground, etc. Pingjiang road landscape protection and environmental improvement project has achieved remarkable results, and also won the praise of the world. In 2005, it was awarded the Asia Pacific Cultural Heritage Protection Award by UNESCO. In order to achieve sustainable development, Pingjiang historical district takes advantage of its profound cultural heritage to actively promote investment selection and tourism resources integration, and strive to build a cultural and leisure tourism district with Pingjiang road as the core. At present, more than 20000 square meters of housing have been used. Characteristic hotels, youth hostels, high-end clubs, art galleries, guqin clubs, classic coffee shops and time-honored tea houses have settled here. With Pingjiang River as the center, the water tourism line connecting Zhuozheng garden, Guanqian Street and Liangyuan has been gradually opened, and the experiential tourism atmosphere of feeling the charm of "Urban Water Lane" has been formed here. In 2002, Suzhou municipal Party committee and government decided to start the landscape protection and environmental improvement project of Pingjiang road. As a pilot project of Pingjiang historic district protection and improvement project, Suzhou Pingjiang historic district protection and improvement Co., Ltd., which is jointly established by Suzhou urban investment company and Pingjiang District State owned assets company, is the main body of Pingjiang historic district protection and improvement project Professor presided over the planning of Pingjiang historic district. At present, the landscape protection and environmental improvement project of Pingjiang road is in progress. The infrastructure reconstruction, the third line into the ground, road pavement, river training and other projects of Pingjiang road have been completed. About 20000 square meters of houses have been relocated, and the house repair work is in progress. The planned water terminal around the city in the east of Zhongjie district will make the historic district fully integrate into the pattern of the tour around the ancient city; the East-West subway that has been started will set up two entrances and exits in the south of the District, which will make Pingjiang historic district better integrate into the "2005 United Nations Asia Pacific Cultural Heritage Protection Honor Award" of Suzhou, and will be listed in the preparatory list of China's application for world cultural heritage. It is one of the ten famous historical and cultural streets in China.

AAAA scenic spot

On August 23, 2011, According to the national standard of the people's Republic of China "classification and evaluation of quality grades of scenic spots" and "measures for the administration of quality grade evaluation of scenic spots", the scenic spots of Pingjiang historical district in Suzhou City have reached the national 4A scenic spot standard recommended by the relevant provincial, autonomous regional and municipal quality grade evaluation committee of scenic spots and assessed by the national quality grade evaluation committee of scenic spots According to the requirements of the standard, it is approved as a national 4A scenic spot after the study and decision of the national quality rating committee of scenic spots.
