Xianji cliff

"Xianji cliff" is located under the snowy peak which is the lowest on the right of Yulong mountain. Not far above the giant cliff is the famous "Wulu Ben Geng", which means "the belt of snowy mountain". The hillside on the left is called "Shi RI bu", which means "Shan Shen Po". Mu Zeng, the most famous member of the Mu family, saw the decline of the flourishing age when he was 36 years old. He lived in seclusion in the snow mountain and roamed everywhere. It is said that he knew the birds and beasts in the mountains very well and could know the words of all the birds and beasts. One day, he led hundreds of animals and birds to sing, dance and play on the giant cliff meadow. Then he rode a red tiger (or "white horse") to leap over the giant cliff and escape into the deep mountains and clouds. He never disappeared. The cliff is like a man riding a tiger, which is called "Xianji cliff" by later generations. Later on, there was a monk named Yunyou who built a temple close to a huge cliff to practice. Now the ruins still exist. Therefore, this place is also known as "dabagizidan" (meaning "the place where monks build houses") and "the place where monks live".

Traffic information: Xuesong Village (Yuhu Village) is 10 kilometers away from the county seat of Dayan town. There is no direct bus from the county seat to Xuesong village. You can charter a car or ride a bicycle. If you can take the bus to Yufeng temple, get off at Dongba Shenyuan, and then walk to the northeast to reach Xuesong village. From Xuesong village, you can walk another 3 hours to xianjiya.
