Dongtan Wetland Park

Dongtan Wetland Park is adjacent to Dongtan Bird Nature Reserve, and is also the only wetland park adjacent to migratory bird nature reserve in China. The second phase of the constructed wetland park is luxuriant in vegetation, which naturally attracts many rare birds. "Recent bird monitoring shows that almost every month, some new birds enter the park." According to the latest monitoring results, 112 species of wild birds have been found in the Wetland Park, including the second-class national protected animals, such as the cuckoo, the white breasted bitterbird, and the black pheasant.

In February 2020, in order to express gratitude for the dedication of medical workers across the country, Dongtan Wetland Park implemented a free admission policy for medical workers across the country (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) from the restoration of the park to December 31, 2020.

Shanghai Dongtan International Wetland Park has completed the basic environmental construction within the scope of 1.81 square kilometers, with a total investment of about 100 million yuan. It has built a total green area of 270000 square meters, planted 186 species of seedlings (aquatic plants are not counted). The lake area is 350000 square meters, and the original reed area is about 400000 square meters. In spring and summer, you can see all kinds of flowers and plants in the grass, but it is difficult to see migratory birds. You can walk in the park, or take a battery car (20 yuan for each person) or rent a bicycle (20 yuan for a single car and 30 yuan for a double car in the first two hours, except for overtime). It's tiring to walk all the way, but the battery car can't get to some scenic spots by taking the big ring road. It's suggested to rent a bicycle instead.

There is also a cruise boat (40 yuan one way) in the park, which can take you from the tourist center to the depth of the park. In the wetland habitat restoration area and waterfowl habitat of the park, there are hand boating projects (30 yuan for the first hour, extra time), barbecue, camping, fishing and other fee activities. There are restaurants in the tourist center, fangcaoyou and Guanhai building in the park, which can provide Chinese style set meal and Western style pastry. However, the price is relatively expensive, and there are few canteens in the park, so it is recommended to bring some dry food and water.

There is no bus to Dongtan wetland by bus. You can take Shenchong line 1 or Shenchong line 2 from the urban area, get off at the Yangtze River Bridge Station in Chenjia town of Chongming Island, transfer to the bus in the island, and then take a taxi or take a black car to the outpost farm. It is about 9 kilometers from the outpost farm to Dongtan Wetland Park.
